NFL 2023: A different shade of green for Aaron Rodgers

Speaking of mediocrity, there are rumors swirling in Washington this week of none other than Mike Tomlin being potentially considered to be the new head coach:

Column: Tomlin to the Commanders isn’t as crazy as you think - WTOP News

Yeah. It's pretty crazy. And pretty fucking stupid too, IMO. FFS!

Although I did get a good laugh about the first sentence of the second paragraph:
Managing partner Josh Harris will begin his first full year in control of the franchise, making crucial decisions about the direction of a team in dire need of an organizational enema after decades of ineptitude that even predates the previous owner.
There is nothing untrue about this statement.

I guess it could work out... maybe? I just lost all respect for the man when he walked out on the field during the infamous Thanksgiving game against the Baltimore Ravens back in 2013, pretending like he was watching the big monitor, oblivious to his illegal position on the field. He just happened to be right in the way of Jacoby Jones running the ball back 73 yards, who had to adjust his trajectory that resulted in a tackle that might have otherwise been a touchdown. Tomlin knew exactly what he was doing and earned himself a $100K fine just for that little stunt.

It's a shame (and not just a little bit surprising) that he considers Joe Gibbs one of his coaching heroes. Gibbs is everything Tomlin is not. Quiet, unassuming, humble and kind. What lessons would Tomlin have taken from such an influence, I wonder? I personally find him to be ethically bankrupt and something of an insufferable asshole but, then again, seems like everyone in the NFL is these days, so I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.

Interesting. I’ve never thought about that before.

I’m wanting to say that Shula lost with the Colts, then won with the Dolphins, and Mike Holmgren won in Green Bay and lost with the Seahawks. That’s it, IIRC.

EDIT: Forgot Dick Vermeil, who lost with the Eagles, then won with the St. Louis Rams.

Raiders have three offensive drives to take a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Chargers will be cleaning house in the offseason.

Woke up, looked at the NFL app, and just stared at the final score for a few seconds. Oof - Staley is about to join the much-envied ranks of "fired NFL coaches."

63-21 is the final. The worst part is, the Raiders suck, so the Chargers must REALLY suck more than I thought. 49-0 before the Bolts scored. 2 defensive TDs, including a fat-guy scoop and score.

I doubt the Chargers could have kept up with the Raiders points-wise even with Herbert.
