I think the whole refit thing is a clumsy way of trying to square the circle of having the Titan be Riker's old ship but with the Neo-Constitution design. If the novelverse Titan hadn't appeared in STLD, they probably would have said the Titan looked like that since 2379. And according to Dave Blass, the original plan was to have the Stargazer in season 3, not the Titan.

That's essentially correct. Matalas wanted the Titan to be both the ship referenced in Nemesis, and a new design that invalidated the previously non-canon Pocket Books version. In that, I actually fully agree with his rationale, as I never liked the novelverse design and felt zero need to canonize it. Unfortunately LDS got in the way of his plans. Now if I were Matalas, at that point I would have just changed the ship to another vessel Riker commanded after the Titan but before he retired, to make it more feasible that the ship was still a former command of Riker's and Shaw still had to purge the system of Riker's settings once he took command. But he still wanted to stubbornly link it to Nemesis, so we got the convoluted mess of the Titan-A.

In a perfect world, sure. But time constraints don't always allow for that. Sometimes the editors come in and cross something out to make it go faster. Reminds me of "Wormhole Extreme" on Stargate SG:1.

I still like it, or I wouldn't be here. Though I admit, I like discussing it less than I used to.

I think I agree with that, but I've seen worse here. Much worse.

And any friends of mine IRL who used to watch TNG and have watched Picard liked it. Especially Season 3. So, whatever I read here, it's fine. I can talk to people about it who I actually know in the flesh and have a perspective more similar to mine. At least as far as Picard is concerned.

I did not really enjoy Season 3 all that much but I can see why people did. Fortunately there's enough Trek out there to generally get someone interested. People who can't like anything and try to gainsay anyone else's happiness are just nasty grouches and enjoy being unhappy, I believe.

That's me, but not exactly. I watched some of these bombs thinking "so far it has been terrible but maybe this time will be different" but I eventually gave up. I actually watched PIC S3 in reverse order because I had quit after half of S1, then suddenly I heard the E-D had appeared and that got me excited.

Thinking of it, it was the same with DIS S1 (I watched the 2 first episodes and lost interest) when I heard the NCC-1701 had appeared.

I never hate-watch a show just so I can badmouth it on some internet bulletin board. I have neither the interest or the energy for that kind of nonsense.

I will, however, watch a show I don't particularly like in the hopes that it will get better. I don't know if that qualifies as watching it out of obligation, but if it never gets better, I feel that I am allowed to vent my frustration about its perceived problems to other fans. They, of course, have no obligation to agree with my rants, but that's another story.

I was speaking more broadly than at anyone here. In my experience, enjoyment, even with positively received installments, will get curtailed by nitpicks. And, yes, I am aware that this is considered a form of fan love. I simply struggle with the notion.

I rather doubt that.

Even if there are 0 shows currently being produced for me to watch I would still watch TOS, Kelvin Films, and Discovery then SNW (in that order) and participate in Star Trek.
