*GASP*!I think it's silly how Romulan ships look like birds.

She's actually decided to watch every series. She's already done TNG with me, TOS, TAS and is on S3 of Enterprise. This is someone who would refuse to watch TNG with me until I made the deal to watch Buffy with her in return.
And that's just if no one's used CPR. Or a magic axe. So while I agree with Ro, she's definitely not the end of the discussion, either.
Honestly, I'd probably also nominate Seven, Uhura, Una, L'Rell, Princess Po, Jadzia Dax, Leeta, Seska, B'Elanna, Jaylah, Tasha Yar, Anne Mulhall and I know I'm surely forgetting a bunch of others.
Awwwwww.Rom's heart.

"Far Beyond the Stars" is the best DS9 episode, hands down. But, of course, it doesn't stand alone. The cast and character references depend upon one having seen prior episodes, and getting all the Easter eggs requires knowledge of TOS. Still, a brilliant episode, that may (or may not) have been inspired by real-word events [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EC_Comics#.22Judgment_Day.22]. Given the pushback against Sisko from some quarters, "Far Beyond the Stars" sadly also works as a self-referential commentary on itself.
To be fair, I think MacGyver once did a medieval episode.
Also, I would argue that part of the appeal of sci-fi is its broad range of ideas. Each episode of Star Trek is certainly, on average, more unique than each episode of a series like CSI.
If you can perceive the transit corridor then you don't die.If I had to live in a "Trekkish" universe it'd have to be a version where matter transportation were limited to inanimate objects, rather than living beings.
There's no way in hell I'm getting ripped to atoms and replaced with an identical clone of me. I'll still be dead, no matter how it looks from anyone else's perspective. :P
And Klingon ships. And zone Orion ships. And 10,000 guest ships.I think it's silly how Romulan ships look like birds.
So, what would you rather have in principle?
Productions from professional people that are good at their jobs but have no special love for Trek, or productions from people that love trek, but are amateurs with not that much experience and perhaps not as talented, too ?
Good intentions does not equal good entertainment
For what it’s worth, Nicholas Meyer didn’t love Star Trek to the point of fundamentally altering it to better fit his vision.
I hear most fans think TWoK is pretty good though.
Of course he wanted to add elements and change some but I don't think he thought he was fundamentally altering it.

TOS NCC-1701 looks like a toy.
in fairness, the Zumwalt looks like a low-rez 3d model with a really low Length of Draw in an early 0's video game.
I think the only celebrity I ever met outside of a convention was the guy who played Murry Bozinsky when I was a kid. I can't recall the show very much. I seem to recall it kind of being a poor-man's Magnum PI with a dash of Simon and Simon.I miss Riptide.
