What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Nice tires.

I mean, 300 years old and they look recent or new. Those kids took care of their stuff.
They love their stuff.

But I thought this was the *controversial* opinions thread?
Someone had to say it.

With all the discussion about Romulan History I keep wanting to shout "Has NO ONE read Spock's World / The Romulan Way?!?"

Speaking of the books - The Final Reflection: The world building for the Klingons is life changing. The world building for Earth is garbage. It's the most meticulous and enjoyable "Crazy Admiral" story ever written. It was Star Trek VI before there was a Star Trek VI. Only Chang is the selfless hero saving us from ourselves.

Ehhh......no.

...unless you're talking about most of Berman-Trek, all of JJ-Trek and most of CBS-Trek.
As a percentage, how much is that?

In between Spock's World and Strangers from the Sky, the litverse's version of human-Vulcan first contact was better than the Prime version.
Strangers AND The Final Reflection took rather a lot from The Spaceflight Chronology. I thought it was just the broad timeline but IIRC the whole "Earth wants to secede" plot in TFF comes directly from there as well. I should go re-read that to be sure.

I may prefer the "late 23rd century" timeline to the "late 22nd / early 23rd" but TSFC looms SO large over 80's Star Trek. And then TNG made it not even a footnote.

As a kid, I poured over the log entries and ship specs in The Spaceflight Chronology.

Patrick Stewart did not meet Jennifer Hetrick until the second day of filming on Captain's Holiday. As @eschaton mentioned, Stewart ended up having an affair with her. (And it wasn't the last time he cheated on a wife, either.)
Does becoming an unexpected sex symbol plus fame turn (some) men's heads plus other body parts?

What goes on, on Risa stays…

…oh, forget that, Captain Obvious…everybody knows that!

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once was a great film! Very out there. But that's not controversial, so, to stay on topic:

It's been just about six months, so I'm going to finally say this here, and I say it as a fan of it: I think the Enterprise-G would've made the perfect Enterprise-B.

But that's probably not controversial enough, so one more:

Discovery should be picked up by Netflix to make Seasons 6 and 7. I'm okay with it ending after 5, but I still want to stick it to The Fandom Menace and I want "Calypso" dealt with one way or another. Whether they make it convoluted, they come up with something crafty (like Craft!), or they say that the Discovery in "Calypso" was from an Alternate Timeline, I don't care. Just do or say something.

Isn't "one season more than Enterprise" enough? To say nothing that the other four Star Trek shows (four, right?) that were "never going to happen and were all made up" happened. Hell, crusty old purists like me even like most of them.

Also Kurtzman AND Kathleen Kennedy both still have jobs.

That doesn't help with your "No more Disco" problem. But it's gotta help with the haters.

With anyone else? Sure. With the likes of Doomcock and Midnight's Edge, etc? Nope. I really want it rubbed into them. They hate DSC more than the other series, so that's where it hits them the hardest.

Also: They're rooting for Paramount+ to fail as well. "No more P+ means no more NuTrek!" The idea that New Trek can survive Paramount+ if necessary will further deflate them and knock the wind out of their sails.
