You are soooo asking the wrong guy that question,![]()
Lol I meant to be sarcastic. I actually first was introduced to andorians via ent then watched the older shows only to see they didn't appear much after tos

TOS played a different game with alien species. Most were done in one. I think the Andorians and the Tellerites only reappeared be cause they hade the make up . IIRC, they didn't even have lines in the later appearances.Lol I meant to be sarcastic. As I said, not really TOS's remit.Exactly. Tos is rather bare with alien civilization expansion. Tng & ds9 did succeed better, especially ds9. Too bad the tos races were left out by then

Most of the "world building" was centered on Starfleet. And even that was "as needed".I know. I guess that's one of my issues with TOS
There were Andorians fans pre-ENT?
Nope.As I said, not really TOS's remit.

Yes indeed. I actually host, with permission, the popular 1976 Andorian fanfic article, "A Summary of the Physiological Roots of Andorian Culture" by Leslie Fish on my site. Leslie is the famous fan filker (eg. "Banned from Argo") of 60s and 70s fandom.

Several licensed Trek novels have used elements of it. (Authors originally known for fanfic, and colleagues of Ms Fish, prior to their pro writing.) And she postulated three genders for the Andorians, rather than four partners in a marriage (stated by Data in TNG) and four genders in the post-DS9 novels.
It's funny because ent only ever showed 2 genders
Not necessarily. Shran's colleague, Tholos (played by Steven Dennis), seemingly flirts with both T'Pol and Trip. He could easily fit with the more androgynous "male" of the novels. ENT's Tarah and Talas could be seen as representing the two "female" genders. Enough wriggle room for fan writers.
Well, we did see other ships in TAS and later the movies. I can't fault them for the budget. It was what it was. Since the the Vulcans only showed up twice, there weren't really any opportunities to show them. Maybe in orbit around Vulcan in Amok Time.Even starfleet world building was shaky. We never saw another class of starship (due to budgetary reasons). Heck, it too until tng to see a Vulcan ship

EhI agree they didn't really have the budget for it. I just think it unfortunately leaves the TOS less well fleshed out.
Amok Time could've been a good time to show one. I mean, they spent money on a Tholian ship and they didn't return until ENT
Needs of the plot.True, it barely was a ship, but it was one. Still more than the Bolians, Betazoids or Trills ever get either and they're way more prominent than the Tholians

They added nacelles and it became the ship used by Dr Sevrin and his hippies in "The Way to Eden" (TOS)
And the "Lower Decks" comic decided it was a Catullan vessel (Tongo Rad's Dad was the Catullan ambassador).
Nah, retcons don't count. So the stupid space hippies get a ship 20+ years before the Vulcans do? Lol
