What the frell happened?

Yes it does.
I cheated and couldn't resist one episode per day ..... I had to watch the whole train wreck, it's like nothing that happened in the past 2 seasons mattered, where was the friendly Borg faction? Oh and THAT final scene.......

Q not dead just bad fan fiction
Maybe with better lighting the train wouldn't have wrecked

What really cheese me off is that none of the seasons ties properly into the other..... Events of last season are just ignored. Yeah the lighting really blows, it's really terrible.
Sadly, like with Season 1 to 2, the connections are only loosely tied together.

The Crushers worked for Mariposas (the organization Rios and Teresa founded in S2).

Apparently Matalas wanted Picard season 3 to be it's own show, called The Last Generation. It ignores loads of 1 and 2. I'm surprised they didn't somehow undo Picard being a synth. Stuff like Data coming back again and nobody mentioning that he's got a whole damn village of synths created in his image feels particularly insulting.

I mean it's like the end of season 2 the Jurati Borg are guarding something and want friendly relations and now season 3 it's like, whaaaaaaaaaat I thought that was a lead in to the next big bad
To be fair, Matalas did make clear in interviews after the S2 finale aired that S3 would not cover the Jurati Borg or what lay beyond the transwarp conduit or anything like that.
It ignores loads of 1 and 2.
Even worse, what S3 does acknowledge from the first two seasons, it usually finds a way to look down on them. Like Shaw scoffing about "that weird shit on the Stargazer" or Riker and Deanna going on about how much they actually hate their home on Nepenthe.

They ignored S1 and S2 because they were a disaster of storytelling, were very boring and did nothing for the characters. I'm glad we got Season 3 with a solid story with a consistent theme and characters that we are familiar with rather than characters we aren't (including Picard).

I mean, even if one likes Season 1 (I do) that doesn't mean the characters have to.

And Shaw is a self-described ass so his opinion is one that I put little stock in as he is a very poor character to take seriously.

But, I do miss Elnor, Juranti, and Rios for sure. Season 3 expected me to be onboard for familiar characters that were not as engaging as those ones were. Raffi and Worf being the only exceptions.
