Spanish on the bridge PA?

What could "grab boards stacks" possibly mean? Could you have heard it wrong? I never noticed a phrase like that.

Interesting that you have "engineering sector three" for the line from WNMHGB, I always thought it said "engineering deck three", but sector would work just as well, or even better.

GALILEO 7
44:26 (female) A.G. sections acknowledging
(male) These sections are stable. Do you read that, engineering deck? Atmosphere and gravity are stable.
(female) {grab boards stacks} green. All decks, cancel condition green
(male) Forward scanner to Bridge, status report. Section on alert status, standing by.

I checked my DVD and this is what I see on subtitles (bolded) and heard on audio. I wonder if there are different audio versions out there?
44:26
FEMALE: A-G Sections acknowledging
MALE: A-G Section is stabilizing. [something something] Atmosphere and gravity are stabilizing.
FEMALE: [Power port? Power forward?] ...Factor 3. All decks to the Captain, Condition 3.
MALE: Forward scanner to Bridge. Status report: Section on alert status, standing by.

I just rewatched the scene, and it is definitely "engineering deck three". :techman:
Cool. now if we can just figure out what "gab boards stacks" really is we'll be in business. Could grab = grav. -since they're talking about atmosphere and gravity? could boards = starboard? Could stacks = stats?

I thought so too, especially as that's what's on Chakoteya's transcripts which are usually pretty reliable. However, re-listening to it a LOT last night I thought there was an extra syllable after the initial DEK or SEK sound.
However however, listening again today I think that might have been just an echo, fooling me.

Yes I have absolutely heard it wrong, I just can't figure out what she's really saying! :guffaw:

Best answer so far! :techman:
I'm changing my list to "Grav board stats green"

Not sure where you're hearing "green" as she is saying "factor 3" or "3" later on. "Grav board" could work at the beginning though.
FEMALE: [Power port? Power forward?] ...Factor 3. All decks to the Captain, Condition 3.

Probably because they say "green" A LOT ;)
I agree though, saying "three" at the end makes a little more sense as well as tying back to this other statement from WNMHGB:
All decks, this is Bridge Engineering, go to emergency condition three.
In this context, CANCELLING condition three would match better IMO.

As to what she says beforehand - whatever it is, it would have to reflect the vaguely defined technological terms from very early Season One (when this stuff was recorded), such as Doctor Van Gelder threatening to destroy Kirk's control panel (singular).
I like "grav board" but I'm sceptical it's a term which the writers would have dreamt up in the early days.
Extrapolating from your suggestions:
Power port stats green. All decks, cancel Condition Three.

VERY helpful video. :bolian: Makes it obvious that the voice is Majel Barrett.

I'm hearing "All decks, cancel Condition 3. Grav board status Green."

The trouble is that she doesn't dwell on the word status. She says it quickly, and the intentionally "filtered" intercom sound quality does the rest. But status is the word that makes the most sense. And Green makes sense as a status we've heard in other clips. The words gravity, board, green, and status are in play throughout the bridge intercom chatter. Grav is not a stretch as tech talk shorthand.

Hmm. I'm not hearing "green" at all. Or even "cancel". Below is the close-captioning from my DVD of the scene and I've listened closely to it a bunch of times. The caption is what I hear for the audio that is clear and it looks correct to me. There is audio before "...Factor 3" that is hard to hear and could be "power port" or something like that. And right after "section on alert" you can barely hear "status standing by" before Sulu announces "Captain, something there on the screen".

PS. Be careful if using a denoiser filter. It takes the "-izing" right out of "stabilizing" and sounds like "stable". I'm sure it is also causing other words to sound different if used.

How about STARBOARD status green?

That's it! You nailed it.

"All decks, cancel Condition 3. Starboard status: Green."
And that makes total sense. Condition 3 (an alert) is being canceled because the starboard section is okay now.

I must have been hearing "grav board" due to the power of suggestion. Now I can't hear grav at all.

No filters were used, I just cranked the volume up a bit. The repeat of "A.G." makes sense, but I'm still hearing "are stable" rather than "stabilizing". Additionally, the final "are" in "are stable" is very heavily pronounced by the speaker.
If she is saying "factor three" then I have no clue what she's referencing though.

Now I hear it too!
Here's what I now hear overall:

44:26 (female) A.G. sections acknowledging
(male) A.G. sections are stable. Do you read that, engineering deck? Atmosphere and gravity ARE stable.
(female) Starboard status green. All decks, cancel condition three.

LOL. We all need our hearing checked. :D
