Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

You had to send in the proof of purchase things from other figures.

Then of course you got the version where the rocket is jammed in the back of the figure and doesn't move, because there had been a firable version but you could actually shoot your eye out.

I had that and sent it with the cash.

I had the original BSG spaceship toys with the projectiles that actually fired, before they changed them for the same reason.

I never understood the controversy over that, since growing up though the 80's I had a whole bunch of small projectile firing toys aimed at about the same age group. Clearly it wasn't a legislation thing, just that some companies were less concerned with lawsuits than others.

Oh and I think I got my Boba Fett either at a carboot, or from buying out a neighbour's collection some time in the early 90's. Honestly I regret getting rid of all the figures when I stopped collecting (I had 2 yak faces, and didn't even know they were rare!) I should have just sold all the bulky stuff and kept figures & Vader head case thing.

Here's a bit of fun; Todd Vaziri, a 20 year ILM veteran visits the Corridor Crew and breaks down some of the shots he's worked on over the years, including an until now unreleased breakdown of some of the Mustafar shots in RotS, the drydock shot Star Trek '09, and the "Apocalypse Now But With TIE Fighters" shot from 'The Force Awakens'.

I'm still impressed how much they were able to push the horror aspect of Anakin burning alive, without going too far. Just try not to think too hard about exactly what is melting and dripping off him as he's barbecued.

Well this is interesting. Just going through the official databank looking at the new entries for Ahsoka and came across this whole new section. Not much in the way of substance, granted, but it does feel like they wouldn't be doing this now unless they're getting a little closer to either further details on the DotJ & NJO projects, or ready to announce somethign for TOR.

Oh and it's neat to finally get a good look at the new logos!

RE: NJO. Up until now I just assumed is was a stylised take on the classic Jedi symbol, but with a split down the middle. Now I'm thinking it's meant to be two sabers, side-by side. Always two there are . . .

Honestly not a fan of the Old Republic symbol, it looks to Jedi-ish to me.

Yes I know it comes from SWTOR as the logo for the republic, but eh.

Two sabers with a diamond in the flash point? Ahsoka inspired? Sabine designed. Sabine's just a year or two older than Luke Skywalker.

Think less literal and more thematic; like a Master and an Apprentice united in purpose, forming a complete whole, and in perfect balance.

Not sure how this one slipped past me for a whole week. My tendency to also watch cooking videos must be confusing the Youtube algorithm . . .

Not a bad approach for a remaster, though I do wonder if they've somehow managed to dig out the original assets and re-render/scan them in at higher resolution, or if this is mostly AI upscaling. Given the state of the Executor model, it looks like i might actually be the former! If so; excellent! I've been looking for some nice accurate reference of the original Moldy Crow mesh. Been trying to build an accurate reproduction all year . . .

At first I thought this was going to be a full on remake like Toys for Bob did for the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games, but this still looks like a pretty nice remaster.

I wonder what Padme would think of the New Republic. She would be in her mid-50s, just five or so years older than Grogu. Jar Jar was banished again to be a clown in Theed. Leia would be raising Ben, but she's probably on the Senate, assuming she's not being active doing other adventures with Han and Chewbacca.

I never bought her excuse of not having the will to live, so she was clearly faking it by lowering and concealing her heart rate, and lying very still in the coffin, she also probably bribed the midwife droid.

I've always thought it was more likely that Vader unconsciously drained her lifeforce to stay alive. Like a panicked drowning man blindly clutching at the nearest thing to hand to save themselves from being dragged under, never mind that what they're clutching at is another person who in all the crazed thrashing ends up getting pushed down under the water as the other climbs on top of them.

Lately though I've been wondering more and more if it was actually Padme who willingly gave up her lifeforce to save the twins. I think that has about the right balance of mythic storytelling, lore credibility, thematic symmetry, and perhaps most crucially: character agency. It'd be nice if she wasn't just a victim in that scenario.

It's glossed over, but Padme was nearly as messed up in the head as Anakin. Elected as queen of a planet at 14, falling in love with a man she met once as a child a decade ago, and then deciding to keep it a secret from everyone. Really, the prequels, if anything, showcase how much the Republic weaponized its children, from the Jedi to the senate, and how it psychologically impacts them for the worst. To think she could die from a broken heart (in an extremely misplaced way) doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
