Trek is having a moment (SNW musical #1 on iTunes!) and it's criminal that TrekLit isn't a part of that.

Did you even read the whole sentence that you quoted?I don't find it criminal at all. I quite enjoyed this musical.
It's already being speculated in the 2024 Releases thread that this could mean fewer new books from S&S in general. And if they're publishing fewer general books, that would likely mean even fewer new Trek novels. And we're already down to two adult Trek novels from S&S this year.
I guess David Mack's Firewall is the only Trek novel for 2024?
I don't expect 2 a month, but one a month is not that much to ask for.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm under the impression that 12 novels a year is an unusually large publishing output for a media tie-in line.
I occured in the past, so why not after the sales situation stabilizes.
It occurred in the past because the sales warranted it. It doesn’t seem likely that they will again. To some extent the recent declines in output aren’t purely to do with sales— there are larger disruptions like pandemic paper shortages and the protracted sale of S&S— but if the line were more lucrative overall, the effect of these disruptions would have been less pronounced. 6 to 8 books a year would be the optimistic outlook at this point, I think.
Even before all this business with S&S being sold began, it was made very clear that with the switch to Trek novel being trade paperback now they can't do twelve novels a year. And indeed, since the switch to trade paperback, we've never seen more than eight a year. Which as mentioned above, is still considerably more than most franchises publish a year.I occured in the past, so why not after the sales situation stabilizes.

And this is one of the main reasons why I dropped off reading Trek lit.I just hate the switch to TPBs. I think MMPBs are the best publishing format.
