Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

was there a PDF released or a Scan made of the Discovery Enterprise booklet?

Like, the version released as part of the Discovery line, not the big one? Because the DSC Enterprise Special booklet was one of the ones put up by EM, and I know someone mirrored them somewhere, but I don't think the booklets for the normal DSC line were. I just compared them, though, and it looks like the DSC booklet has the same pictures and text and the Special version, just arranged differently.

from my point of view Eaglemoss/Hero Collector just did too much when it came to Trek. They hit an over saturation point.

I mean, by the end they were kinda reaching by doing all the “concepts” and the STO ships that were very niche to begin with.

I also think they probably over did it on the XLs, those should have been special 1 or 2 per year things. Not 1 or 2 every month or every other month. The fact that on certain ones they seem to still have so many for MR to sell indicates that.

I think the new company would benefit by doing a hybrid subscription + standalone model. Make certain ships (let’s say the new Intrepid) only available thru the sub. But all the basic “hero ships” like the TOS Enterprise, 1701-D, Defiant, Voyager, etc… you can get via sub or buy it independently. Maybe as a bonus you only get the magazine if you have the subscription.

I was fine with all the concept designs – Voyager, Reliant, Excelsior, Defiant, Phase II Enterprise, Daedalus, couldn't get enough of those – but all the alien-of-the-week ships were tedious and made me regret my subscription.

I don’t mind those ships either. I just think they were filler trying to extend the line, like the STO stuff.

A lot of the concept ships would have made excellent canon ships in their own right and it's interesting to see what might have been. Same with a lot of the "ambiguously canon"/Ships-Of-The-Line stuff, like the XCV-330 and the Vesta-class and the Altair. I love all that stuff. I can pore over concept art for days. Delta Quadrant guest ship #47, not so much. STO I'm not a fan of so I ignored them, but I got a couple of them just because I liked them (and because they were canonised by PIC).

I’ve said this all before, but the concepts should have been bonus issues, not part of the mainline and vice versa. Specials should have been reserved for space stations and large ships, like V’ger. I have no idea who thought making the Vulcan Shuttle and Lander as Specials was a good idea. Maybe Eaglemoss though they would display better with the shuttles?

And making everything mid-sized from Discovery and beyond didn’t help them out either. People would have been more tolerant of the weird Disco Klingon ships if instead of a big $45 ship that takes up a lot of space, they were small $20 each guys and came with a Federation ship.

The FC cube is pretty accurate!

I wonder why they didn't just use the existing CG model from VOY. But I'm not complaining, the First Contact cube is my favorite version.

oh yeah, bonus issues or subscriber/shop exclusives for the concepts.

the mid-sized ship change was another puzzling choice as you say. I would prefer to have something like the NX refit in the same scale as the regular NX-01 instead of it being twice the size.
