Will SNW get it's omnipotent creature(s)?

As SNW is built upon TOS...
and this is pre-Q era (unless considering Trelane), so he can't be re-used (or can he?).

Even TNG/Voyager/DS9 had a few...Armus, Qs, prophets, caretaker, etc etc. Hence it used to be a ST staple. However we have not seen any such in any of the modern shows, except for Q in Picard (nostalgia).

Soo....
Will SNW have it's own omnipotent/god type creature(s)/character(s) (ie. Gary Mitchell, Apollo, Trelane, Metrons, Organians, etc)? or is that concept done in this era?

I hope they keep that short of thing to a minimum. But I'm sure it will happen at some point.

Let's not make it "Q," and hope that they find a novel angle on it. Based on what I've seen so far, if they do it they'll make it entertaining as hell.

I was hoping for the Metrons. Perhaps they can be in the season 3 opener as part of a Deus ex Machina resolution to the season 2 finale. I have not seen the season 2 finale yet.

I could see maybe something showing the Metrons are keeping an eye on the situation and getting annoyed by these lower level life forms getting closer to their space. However that would be more homage to TOS than an actual storyline.

I agree that SNW does has done a good job of keeping it fresh and innovative, but not making to too complicated and staying simple along the lines of TOS. I agree that they shouldn't go with a Q rehash, or a recurring omnipotent creature.

Just all thoughts/conjecture here.

I’m not interested in a recurring character like Q, but I would be interested in seeing what SNW could do with a one off story a la Charlie Evans or Trelane (but not Trelane himself).

Here is my original theory as to how the Metron’s could be included in Strange New Worlds (and beyond) after watching Momento Mori.

Im going to quote the relevant post in a spoiler tag, not because it is an actual spoiler but because it includes information about the season 2 finale:

Perhaps in the distant past, the Metron’s visited an alien planet and found the Gorn running around as wild bipedal dinosaur like animals hunting squirrels and mice, but they decided to play god and give the Gorn technology and weapons as part of a social experiment to see what they would do to themselves and others as part of their first contact attempts. This explains the beautiful Gorn mothership from this weeks episode. This would be the equivalent of putting a load of books, swords and shields in to a Neolithic tribal community to see what would happen. The Metron’s thought that this gift of knowledge, technology and ‘enlightenment’ might have led to the Gorn becoming civilised andturning their species around for the better. The Metron’s had good though naiveintentions as they had not encounteredmany races before, just ancient species such as the Preserver’s. Obviously this experiment failed and the Metron’s learnt from their mistake and vowed never to repeat it, deciding to pursue a trial by combat system of first contact so that this never happens again. The Gorn are theultimate diplomatic challenge, almost an impossible ‘no win’ Kobayashi Maru scenario when it comes to diplomacy and inter species relations as the Metron’s found out themselves. The Metron Fellowship did not want their Gorn experiment to be a total failure, so they decided to ‘use’ the Gorn as a play thing when contacting other species in their ‘trial by combat’ first contact tests, hoping that even the Gorn themselveswould one day learn to better themselves through their endless trial as part of the process. As we have seen in this weeks episode, Pike failed the Metron test. Kirk also fail’s the test in Arena, I believe that the Star Trek Lower Decks crew failed the test when they were given an alternative ‘trial by wedding’ variation. Captain Lorca in the mirror universe of Discovery failed the Metron test - he even had the audacity to take the skeleton of a Gorn back home with him as a trophy! What an impudent fool he was!

One thing I liked about TOS is that it frequently portrayed our heroes as a middling race and that it was relatively common to come across more advanced species, with only a couple of exceptions, that largely went out the window during the Berman era.

We did get to see how the SNW crew would encounter similar, because I'd count the Boltzman brain from "The Elysian Kingdom" as an advanced life form.

I think they avoided this in other prequels (Discovery & Enterprise), so SNW should follow suit. I am assuming the Organians are not considered omnipotent since they made an appearance on ENT.

Would they finally canonise Trelane as being a compartmentalised facet of the Q Continuum?
They could go with Peter David's implication that he's Q's son, growing up and wrecking the timeline. Especially since they've done the non-linear thing already and had Q die and then a (maybe earlier?) version of him
Show up to torment Jack Crusher

Perfect, they can do that then. I still do not believe that Q actually die, so Q’s son can be Q rebirthed in to himself as part of the Continuums hour glass cyclic existence. :techman:
