Worked with Thanos.
But that was different. He was clearly set-up as a future threat who was working behind the shadows of the events of that film. On his own.Worked with Thanos.
That totally reads like a conversation between Writer Guy and Producer Guy from Pitch Meetings.
Thanos was simply revealing who the mastermind behind Loki and the Chitauri, and was set up in the opening scene with The Other talking to him about Loki and the Chitauri.Worked with Thanos.
And then you do their films. But that was different. He was clearly set-up as a future threat who was working behind the shadows of the events of that film. On his own.
As oppose to one or two characters randomly added to a team line-up that would leave non-fans thinking "Wait, where did they come from?"
Yeah, I really don't see how Capt. Marvel or Spider-Man appearing at the end of AoU without being introduced before it would have felt really random. Those characters both really deserved the kind of big introductions they ended up getting, not just random cameos.
Spider-Man appearing Civil War was not a "big introduction" but behind the scenes Shoehorning-101, as he--in the plot--had no reason to be involved in a conflict he had no connection to whatsoever (and Parker's explanation to Rogers only made the shoehorning more apparent). If Marvel/Disney were so desperate to shove Spider-Man into the MCU, they could have created a debut film with no problem at all. He's the company's flagship character--the face of Marvel far and above all others (yes, that includes Wolverine), and even if Marvel did not want to film yet another origin story, they did not need to feel they had to, or it could have been referred to (dialogue, flashback--typical of the medium which gave birth to Spider-Man). Either way, the forced introduction in Civil War has been and continues to be rightly criticized.
By certain people....and continues to be rightly criticized.
Yes it was a big introduction, it addressed who he was, showed what he could do, and it had him meeting the other characters and taking on a role in the story.Spider-Man appearing Civil War was not a "big introduction" but behind the scenes Shoehorning-101, as he--in the plot--had no reason to be involved in a conflict he had no connection to whatsoever (and Parker's explanation to Rogers only made the shoehorning more apparent). "The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly." Not the most reassuring of quotes.
Because if there's one thing that people are always saying about the MCU, it's that it's way too grim and dark all the damn time!"The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly."

The new action figures have to look different from the old action figures. Also, I really don't like the updated costumes we've seen in some of the photos, particularly Kamala's. Why such a rush to replace the excellent costume from her series?
I hope that's not all it is.
