Tinman

I see you're not burdened with an over abundance of mutual respect or good manners.
No, I've seen enough sycophancy to keep me from ever practicing it. I show it when it's due, though not usually with the haute lumpenproletariat.

Perhaps you should ask yourself why most people are coming to this thread. Is it because you've asked a well thought out and reasoned question in a polite and curious fashion, and are currently engaging in a thoughtful and insightful conversation?

Or is it because you've come in here as a hot head, spouting nonsense, and acting like an asshole?

The thread is a train wreck, and people are coming to see the carnage.
No, I was justifiably responding to some not so intimations, then supposedly got, as you portend. Perhaps comment upon some of the other invective directed in this thread, or are they sacrosanct?

Well, I don't suffer coddling morons, too well. They need to be told they're inept, else how do they progress?
Not by telling them their inept.

Punishment works in the short term to correct behavior. Positive feedback and modeling in the long term. Psychology.

You might want to switch to decaf.
But as I've heard it much it, each social class has its own venue of expression, which others enter at their own peril.
So do the moderators. 1001001's begins here. It gets worse after this. Tread lightly.

Just to clarify: The posters who referred to Chinese translations and the band "America" were being facetious.

The title was not a commentary about Data, although it worked really well in that direction as well.
Come to think of it, didn't Armus actually refer to Data as "Tin Man" a few times?

I believe he did, yes.

I heard there was free booze. :techman:

I would just like to say that I actually thought (through my child’s eyes when I first watched this episode) that the title of this episode*did* refer to Data. The Betazoid guy could not read Data’s mind like he could everybody else’s… because Data has a positronic brain and is an android or ‘tin man’.

@Shannon L. Freng , there is a ‘rule’ here at TrekBBS to discuss the show itself and not the posters themselves, no matter what our personal opinions of the show or each other. That goes for everyone above, really… it is very easy to turn differing opinions and ideas that we may have on a subject in to points of conflict. I think that you would fit in here *really* well , Shannon, if you learnt to read the room before posting. Hopefully you will get to stick around so that we can get to know you better, I would suggest checking out the Red Shirts lounge and introducing yourself. There are even bar threads if you would like to make yourself a cocktail or grab a beer. :)

I've toyed around doing a Wizard of OZ homage with Data as the Tin Man and Worf as the Cowardly Lion. No good analog for Scarecrow though. Wes as Dorothy and Deanna as Glinda.

They could still do this in the Seven of Nine spin-off, if Strange New Worlds does not steal the idea for their next comedy centric episode in season 3 first? I am assuming that they have been renewed for a third season? I’m a bit behind on SNW, the production quality may have dipped and the network may want to cancel it to save money… I’m only hearing good things though. :bolian::luvlove:

[Willard Whyte] What is going on here and what can I do about it??? [/Willard Whyte]

You people need fucking pictures drawn for you, apparently. I explained, clearly enough, what my reason was, for claiming a discontinuity in the plot. I only erred in my choice of audience. It would seem the majority of you would have difficulty understanding anything that went beyond what could be explained, in five minutes, to a fucking 12-year-old. But then that was what I heard about such sites as these. It immediately put in me in mind of such cretins, as do go to such places as Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and the like. There's about the same level of incoherence. I had the great pleasure of discovering this, at this rent-subsidized building I'd just moved into. It was awash in those AA-type fucks, but unfortunately, I'd just signed a year lease with the place.
Let’s see, are you flaming or trolling, pick one. Warning for trolling, no need to harass the rest of the members.

Ah, I didn't realize I was doing that, initially, and felt quite the idiot, for that. But that was due to a lack of the required operation of this page, and to nothing else. I'm not as astute with this online shit, as some are.[/QUOT

Seems like you’re astute enough but for all the wrong reasons. To quote Alan Partridge anyone who makes reference to addiction like that is just saaaaaad.
