Spoilers The Bastardization of Star Trek

With a series based in plausible future science, making up a quantum probability field that makes everyone sing and can only be broken if everyone sings at once.....

that's wrong. That's the wrong way to do it.
Oh heavens, singing in Star Trek? What an utter disastrous calamity. They've never done a musical number on the show before --

Oh, wait.

If you don't like newer Trek productions, fine, but why does it seem like some people feel the need to create a thread where they talk about some standardized idea of what Star Trek is, and then feel the need to mention the always online crowd to validate their dislike of the latest Star Trek production? You don't like SNW or Picard, okay, great. Why do you concern yourself with ensuring your reasons for disliking a show align with RMB's or Nerdrotic's reasons for disliking the same show? Do you think they care about your opinions?

Ah, yes. Everyone knows how cool and level headed the comment sections are on YouTube. And yes, I'm sure you'll adore the arrogant, egotistical, self-important rants of RMB.

Who doesn't?

Yeah, go check out the vapid commentary of Popcast. One of myriad semi-successful attempts to monetize someone else's IP by bloviating about it.

I confess: I am weary unto death of "nerd rage," regardless of the franchise.

None of this stuff is sacred or set in stone, IMO. No need to get too fundamentalist about it.

I breezed by one on YouTube this afternoon that was headlined "Why Indiana Jones 5 was Utter Shit!!!"

I refuse to believe that anyone capable of filming, assembling and uploading a YouTube video is so stupid that they believe this kind of commentary is worthy of the time it took to come up with that headline.

So the cynicism and lack of respect for potential viewers that it required to make up such a headline is even more infuriating. They don't believe this at all, but consider themselves clever for thinking it up as a means to clicks. They must laugh and congratulate themselves.

Nerd-ragers of the world, cynical monetizing jackasses own you, body and soul.

Do you think they'll ever come back and respond? Or have they been scared off by opinions contrary to their own?

Rick Berman worked on Star Trek from 1987-2005. 18 years.

Kurtzman started working on Star Trek in 2005. It's now 2023. 18 years.

Pretty soon, Kurtzman will have worked on Star Trek longer than Berman. He's already had more series across more time periods.

Time to stop calling NuTrek fake/bastardization of Trek.
