This was great, loved it.

I am glad I didn't skip the title sequence, loved the animated version.

It was interesting that LD characters thought that in the past people talked slowly and not loud enough. That has been my main complaint about LD: too hectic a pace and characters talking too loud. This may be a normal thing for animated comedies but I don't like it.

The part about Una being the poster girl for starfleet recruitment was a good idea and perfectly executed.

Loved the references to NX-01, gave me goosebumps.

Loved it. About to watch it again. That was just great. Sean at TrekCulture is going to have a CVS receipt worth of Cetacean Observations for this one.

One question that may or may not be answered by a repeat viewing: was the Orion crew being given credit for finding the portal something new introduced to the timeline, or was it always meant to happen? If it was something new, then how did Tendi know her ancestor was on the crew that found it? But if it was always meant to happen, why did Boimler think it was the Enterprise that discovered it? When he came back and told Tendi she was right, you'd think she'd have replied with "Well duh, everyone knows that." Again, it could be something I missed because I was still laughing about Boimler saying "Riker!" as he mounted the saddle.

Boimler called Ortegas a war hero. Does he mean like in the Klingon War? Because I can't think of any other war in the TOS timeframe that Ortegas would theoretically be a hero in.

I have been looking forward to this one since it was first announced. And man, what a letdown this was...

Says exactly NO part of my brain! This was so much fun! Fantastic crossover! Of course Jonathan Frakes would direct us another winner.

So many references and easter eggs... truly was an LD crossover. I'm so glad ENT got so much love in this one. Fitting, as that would be the only show that predates SNW. Even Mayweather and Sato got their hero worship. :)

The Enterprise is gorgeous in animated form! The entire theme sequence was just brilliant. And I was laughing so hard when the space creature was stuck on the nacelle, just like in the LOWER DECKS theme.

I thought it was a good choice having Boimler be the only one there for as long as he was. It made the back half even more emotional as he realizes the mistakes he made and decides to do what he feels is the right thing to do. His conversation with Pike was very, very well done. It hit the right chords, reminding us that we need to sometimes just live in the moment and remember there are people who want to celebrate the fact we are in their lives.

I loved Una's reaction to her poster being used as a recruitment poster... you can tell how happy she felt that all she went through is appreciated enough that she is an example for people to aspire to, even a century later. (By the way, a nice little nod by Commander Ransom on saying how hot she is, since they are married in real life.)

Jess Bush really did well here... her body language at hearing about Spock's future was just heartbreaking.

And after reading some of the comments, I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one creeped out by smiling Spock. But I also loved Spock's way of telling Boimler to duck. Ethan Peck has done an outstanding job as Spock.

We got a little bit of Ortegas information, too... a war hero, and served on the Klingon front. Her telling Uhura that the 'work will still be there in 5 minutes' was something she learned at that time.

I really like Pelia. She doesn't appear much, but she brings a lot when she does appear. That was a wonderful quote, too.

La'an loves grapples... that was just so damn funny, and I don't even know why.

That last scene with all the SNW crew in LD form was hilarious. A perfect way to end the episode.

This series really best exemplifies one of the core elements of the franchise... having fun! And this episode delivers that in spades! One of the things that was mentioned in the weekly chat earlier today was how the lighting and colors of SNW are brighter and more vibrant than DISCO or PICARD, and that is a physical reflection of the mood and flavor of fun that SNW has. And to me, it's why SNW is light years ahead of either of those shows... it knows how to have fun in the middle of the drama.

This gets a 10 from me.

Probably wasn't in the best head space to watch this, having just watched Oppenheimer about an hour before it dropped. Gonna give it a rewatch later in the week to settle my thoughts when I'm not in the midst of an existential crisis.

What I will say is that both Quaid and Newsome fucking killed it. Never doubted their acting abilities, but I wondered if those kinds of characters with that kind of energy would translate to live action. Really shouldn't have worried because they were both fantastic and had dynamite chemistry.

This was exactly what I wanted from my most anticipated episode of the season. I love these characters and it was a delight to see them bouncing off of each other.

Production should just give in and make SNW into an animated show. The fourth wall is just barely holding together as is.

That was brilliant! A very effective melding of the two series styles.

Of course, like usual, despite SNW being a hilarious comedy this week, there were still emotional beats. Poor Chapel accidentally finding out the future of Spock/Chapel was heartbreaking in particular.

I loved all of the meta-jokes throughout. The end with the SNW crew drinking together, and becoming LD-style animation was the perfect end. :D

Holy fucking shit!

So Trelane confirmed as Q!

Interesting to see Spock experimenting with emotions - the failure of the experiment likely being a significant driving force behind the dynamic of the relationship in TOS

Great bit of Pike background with the relationship with his father

La'an still feeling the effects of her getting close with UE-Kirk

The fleet museum from Picard getting referenced is pretty dope ("I love grapplers")

Pretty cool with the "each ship starts with a piece of the last to bear its name" - explains to an extent the whole thing about the Titan too

Pike with "Flipping it is the best part" about the communicators - anyone who had a flip phone back in the early '00s and would answer it by flipping it open knows this is true

The opening credits being done in LD style was class

Pike having understated hair in the LD style made me laugh far more than it should do

Anyone who doesn't rate this 10/10 is dead inside

The irony of Boimler being so freaked out by Spock joking is that it is obvious (and was obvious even in the series) that Spock is CONSTANTLY taking the piss. He just is using a very deadpan sense of humor to give his jibes in to McCoy and everyone else.
He would be terrified of McCoy if Urban played him. :)
