That's pretty cool though I personally would not want to be anywhere near that area during the game. I've done the downtown Seattle thing just during the summer.

That said, is there any particular reason why they've gotten the All-Star Game twice in the last twenty years, but (the new) Yankee Stadium has never gotten it? I mean, I'm not bitter or anything, I'm just curious.

That's funny. Until you mentioned it, I didn't know (or forgotten) Seattle had hosted two All-Star Game's before; and I'm a lifelong Washington state resident.

Looks like one was back in the old Kingdome days.

I wonder what was going on in my life at that time, that I have no memory of the games/broadcast?

No, I think they do it deliberately.

Globe Life Field, for example, gets the ASG next year, at least partly because it hosted so much of the 2020 playoffs (including the World Series itself). Linky

Although that link also said that the Rangers "presented a robust bid". So there's that.

Also, Citizens Bank Park in Philly is getting the ASG for 2026. I thought they'd already gotten it at least once!

In the end it looks like it's more complicated than anybody guessed. So if CBP (which has been in existence since 2004) has taken this long to get the ASG, I guess it shouldn't be surprising that (new) Yankee Stadium hasn't gotten it either.

Yeah, the Kingdome got it in '79 and T-Mobile Park first got it in 2001.

Part of it is probably because old Yankee Stadium got the ASG in 2008, so they figure they can wait awhile until the new one gets it.

The belief is Manfred wants to expand to 32 teams (so two more teams) once the A's and Rays get their situations settled. Nashville, Portland and Salt Lake currently have groups trying to bring an MLB team to their city.

Never gonna happen, 12 teams make the playoffs now, they won't go back to 8, probably expand to 16.

Portland is bigger than Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Milwaukee.
