Timeline proof.

Exactly. The exact dates of the Eugenics Wars are completely irrelevant to 99% of the franchise. Does it really make a difference whether Khan comes from 1996 or 2046?
Absolutely. Whether or not the Khan is from 1996 or 2046 will create a ripple effect that will culminate in whether Queen Grudge the Cat will tolerate Admiral Vance the time Book leaves her behind with him or not.

Think of the implications.

;)

I'm not devastated or anything extreme like that - but it diminishes the old shows in my opinion. A bit like how watching Crystal Skull diminished my appreciation of Indiana Jones, or how the new Star Wars movies diminished the Star Wars legacy. Jedi's happy ending is now tainted by the knowledge that Luke and Han were unhappy and had a genocidal son. These wonderful old 'franchises' see diminishing returns.
Thank you for articulating this opinion. I don't agree because in my opinion a story should stand or fall on its own. But, it kinda off makes a little more sense.

I don't take the franchise as a whole. I take stories as they come.

As long as they don't change anything after First Contact with Vulcans, I won't mind too much (and yes, I realized Yesterday's Enterprise basically did that).

I mean, does it really matter? Do episodes like "Timeless" not matter because the alternate future is erased at the end of the episode? It's not like TOS is being erased from existence. You'll still be able to watch it.

Well that's not quite the same, since those were timelines created for the purpose of the stories in those episodes, not really something we've known for a long time.

Like I implied above though, this could barely change the actual events of TOS. Same as Voyager Home, First Contact (probably), and Yesterday's Enterprise didn't seem to significantly change history.

I dont see how history wouldnt be changed by delaying a war for 50 years. Whole lineages would change, people who died would live and vice versa. Kirk would not meet the Botany Bay, lost in space from the year 1996. Even if the Botany Bay still launches, it wont be on the same trajectory at the time Kirk originally intercepts it.

They just merged the Eugenics Wars with WWIII, the overall effect on the trajectory of the Trek universe seems to be negligible. Captain Kirk will still find Khan Singh in the Botany Bay, lost in space from the year 2046. Records from that era are fragmentary.

That's how Trek treats time travel. Such changes don't adjust history that much.

Tribbles are organic tags which can identify any timeline instantly. It's not that they're born pregnant; it's just that they embody bleedthrough from other realities. Quantum signature scans of the little furballs will confirm which timeline they belong to. They care nothing for the Eugenics Wars despite some of their number being modified in a lab. They are well aware of the animosity directed toward their species from Klingon Ecowarriors, but don't really understand it. For them, they exist in all timelines and are happy to trill in all. They are ubiquitous throughout the galaxy. Even the Caretaker examined them, but found them lacking. Once there was a Service Tribble who gave emotional support to the Time Soldier, Yor, from another dimension. The Tribbles brought forward in time to Deep Space Nine were unaware of any discontinuities in their environment because they seem to thrive in bars where there's alcohol and adoring humans and their assorted sandwiches. And that's where they ended up following the funny light show.

What Starfleet never learned about Tribbles is that when their trilling is synchronized across their whole species, you can pick one up to hold it to your ear, and you will then be able to hear events occurring in other timelines. They are living portals.

The shields were enhanced in front and behind to hold the door, so the upper, lower, and lateral shields were weakened or even completely off ;)
We need a "here's a solution to unanswered story gaps and apparent plot holes" thread :D

It makes all the difference. The Eugenics wars were delayed by 50 years. Who is to say that Khan even boards the Botany Bay any more. Events would/will be completely different
So did TNG, but I don't see anyone complaining about that.

According to TOS the last world war was in the 90s, TNG and later productions moved the start to the early 2000s.
