Things that frustrate us all

Sarasota.
I would love some clouds even if it didn't rain.

The west side of Florida tends to have the exact opposite weather of the east. We do a yearly trip to Naples/Marco Island, and we notice it is the polar opposite of each other on any given day. (We have a security camera in our front so we acrually see the difference in real time.)

These (attempted) catfishers are getting more and more brazen. It's like they're not even trying to hide what they are. Just out of curiousity I looked at one's profile and it actually said "I WANT FUCK". :guffaw:

It's so hot here in Florida right now that it just zaps my energy to get anything accomplished. I can't even go for a walk anymore. Usually it rains a lot this time of year so things cool down a little once in awhile but we're not getting rain either. I wish that I could move somewhere where it at least cools down at night a little.
That's the nice thing about our summers in Arizona, once the sun goes down it's starts getting a lot nicer out pretty quickly. And the mornings are pretty nice when the sun is still low, but the moment the sun is up it heats up incredibly fast, and the heat from sun is just insane.

I was in AZ last May (on a baseball tour) and was surprised at how tolerable the weather was. Even when our group went out into the desert to see the red rocks it was still pretty nice. And when we got to the Diamondbacks game that night, the roof was open! Who'd a-thunk it?

Yeah, late spring/early summer here is really nice, but it doesn't always last long before we starting getting really hot.

I'm watching a Python sketch about "trim jeans" (garments which are heavily padded to - supposedly - make you sweat off weight). And I'm thinking...are people really that fucking DUMB to think that things like this actually WORK? This is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Why does the government even allow stuff like this (obviously scams) to even be sold?

People believe a lot of nonsense.

I'm sure they do. But the fact remains, products that are obviously fake are still allowed to be sold. Why should they be? Can't the government ban something that obviously doesn't work?

It's like those obnoxious prescription drug ads. You know, the ones with wussy word-salad slogans like "Be there to do more" and all that crap. Those drugs are probably all fake too. Can't the gov't do something about THAT?

Common sense really fucking needs to make a comeback. :sigh:

^In case you haven't noticed, the government doesn't give a shit about you. Or much of anything, for that matter, unless you're a rich, white, straight Christian male--or a freshly fertilized zygote.

The rule is "buyer beware." In America, you are on your own.

They have a hard enough time with the stolen goods sold online. I wouldn't expect much.

and apparently with those books sold on Amazon which are literally just copied and pasted from Wikipedia articles! :wtf:

Seriously. Those books do exist. I can't remember who created them, but they ARE there. Blew my fuckin' mind.

Public domain books are also sold on Amazon as well that you can get for free at Project Gutenberg.

Are you seriously telling me it's LEGAL to just take random Wikipedia articles, print them out, and sell them as novels? What, and I cannot stress this enough, the FUCK?

It's probably more like, most people already know the food in those ads is fake (it is pretty obvious) and if you go ahead and order it anyway, it's on you.

The 'buyer beware' thing again.

I still think food styling is kind of a dick move, though. Is it THAT hard to use real food? You can even eat it after you're done with the ad!
