Say something critical about a fan favorite episode

Even worse is that you would think Starfleet would have suspicions about Picard's lingering mental state/PTSD or even his loyalty to the Federation after the Wolf 359 massacre. You have a former Borg leader who just decided to NOT DESTROY THE BORG. How does this go unchecked? I'd imagine the blowback would have been catastrophic.
EXCELLENT point! I think I may put it in my headcanon that Picard decided not to destroy the Borg because of a lingering bit of Borg presence in his system that Dr. Crusher couldn't detect. (Which would also conveniently foreshadow Picard still having a bit of a Borg connection in First Contact.)

But yeah, Starfleet investigating Picard for his decision in "I, Borg" makes all the sense in the world.

A Piece of the Action. Some sicko crewman of the Horizon who is bored of their enlightened society keeps a historical book about crime lords from the early twentieth century to pass the time and promptly loses it on Sigma Iotia II. We'd be watching a very different story if it were the Kama Sutra or Nancy Drew or Roots left behind instead.

They didn't lose it. It was intentionally left behind along with several other books from the Horizon's crew. No Prime Directive Yet = Cultural exchange was considered perfectly fine.

And for all we know, the Horizon crew might have also left behind other books on Earth history, but Chicago Mobs of the 1920s was the only one that caught the Iotians' fancy.
SPOCK: Captain? Gangsters. Chicago. Mobs. Published in 1992. Where'd you get this?
OXMYX: Hey, wait a minute. That's the Book.
KIRK: I know it's a book.
OXMYX: The Book. They left it, the other ship. The Horizon.
SPOCK: This is the contamination, Captain. Astonishing. An entire culture based on this.
MCCOY: You said they were imitative, and the book
OXMYX: I don't want any more cracks about the Book.
KIRK: Did they leave any other books?
OXMYX: Sure. Some text books on how to make radio sets and stuff like that.

Poor Spock. The questions he'd have.

*Human wife - "Was it my mother you were attracted to? Or humans?"
*Vulcan wife - "You prefer Vulcans after all?"

Sarek's relationship with Sybok's mother may have been like Spock's with T'Pring, so maybe history repeats itself.

The idea that a society who actively ban genetic engineering would turn around and be down with giving an android rights makes absolutely no sense.

measure of a man is a great episode, but we in current era already know the answer.

The second you give androids rights one industrial replicator can replace us all.

It's the same reason the Doctor makes no sense. You ain't getting rights.

The problem with genetic engineering is that once it becomes readily available and routine, it's practically necessary. Remember what Bashir's dad said about him, how he couldn't keep up in school or other aspects of life. Well, if they allow genetic engineering of kids, multiply that phenomenon by every non-engineered kid, struggling to keep up with his or her enhanced peers.

In Mirror Mirror, I dislike Kirk's flirtatious comments about Marlena at the end of the episode...it seems out of character for Kirk who otherwise is shown to be quite strict with himself about maintaining professional boundaries with women who work on the Enterprise.

TNG: "I, Borg" - I found the whole debate about whether it was morally right to eliminate the Borg to be idiotic. The Borg, as portrayed up until that point, destroyed and assimilated and created absolutely nothing in return. Of course it was the right thing to do to take them off the playing field as it would've saved countless lives. I would've loved to see Admiral Nechayev tear Picard a new one for his decision to not release the nanovirus into the Collective.

This point was like literally my first post on the BBS here. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this.

Which is why in my headcanon Kirk remembers himself and quickly pivots over to a professional conversation as he's talking to Marlena underneath the "Directed by Marc Daniels" credit. ;)

PICARD: "[I remember] Everything. Including some brilliantly unorthodox strategy from a former first officer of mine."

It's the perfect exit arc, in an episode that's as much a Riker episode as a Picard one... but nothing happens.

Riker remained on the Enterprise by request or orders from Starfleet to look over Picard for a while if he really is fit to command after his Borg experience?

Ridiculous. One, Riker has demonstrated more loyalty to Picard than Starfleet. Two, Starfleet would want someone they picked for such an assignment. Three, an executive officer might be too obvious.

Four, why not have Picard evaluated by professionals, and leave Riker in the big chair while doing that?
