Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Would not recommend studying history.
I actually love learning about history, but yeah some of the fucked up shit people do now, is nothing compared to what happened a few hundred or thousand years ago.
Over in mental wellness thread I've been talking about my struggling to find a new job because of my anxiety, but a couple weeks ago I actually had an idea for a business that I would love to start, a horse walking service. It would like a dog walker, but for horses. When I'm on my bike rides I always see tons of horses who appear to spend all or the vast majority of the time, in tiny stalls and/or small back yards, so I was thinking for like $15 or $20 an hour I could get them out and just walk them around the neighborhood. And if I eventually learned to ride, I would maybe add a riding instead of leading option for like another $5. The problem with this idea is that I don't have the kind of horse handling experience I would need to do that.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Why not ask some of your stable contacts if they would like that? My wife and I have had opportunities to learn about horses from owners because they needed the support. Sometimes I look at the local farm and feed store and see if they have any basic classes.

I was trying to remember the name of a late night tv show I used to watch that was comprised of captions over various B-movies.

It wasn't Mystery Science Theater 3000, it was Exploitica. (Only the 1st series was good?)

Since I'm not really in a position to actually do it, I'm not sure if it would be worth mentioning to any of them. Although if I do get working and get enough money to take riding lessons, it could be a nice side hustle.

I mean, it's skills you're interested in learning so why not?

I can't afford to pay for lessons, and there's not really anybody I'd feel comfortable asking to teach me for free.

Target has a buy $100+ in Apple gift cards, get a $10 Target gift card free deal this week. I'm going to buy an Apple product, so I'm purchasing $100 gift cards over and over again to get the Target bonus. I thought they would've capped it, but they didn't, so I kept on going.

Surprised this isn't considered suspicious activity and no one called me to make sure I'm not buying these gift cards for a Nigerian prince or to pay off an IRS fine.

I once swore I'd never use the self-checkout.

Now that masking-up by retail workers has been mostly halted - by whatever methods - I am just about done with live-crew checkout.

The ladies who worked a local A&W food court location who were staying masked up on duty last weekend, though?

They got a Papa burger and fries order out of me!

When the news rattles on and on about "politics" it's really like one of those ghastly tv shows such as 'Love Island', where they do a catch-up segment on what awful sexploit or fisticuff has gone on that week.

The weird thing there are no mask mandates here but a lot of retail workers are still wearing them.. I find it a bit weird because no one else in stores seem to care.

I see several places still with barriers up between staff and customers. I see some people with masks, employees and not. I can understand most of it, save for the person with a mask on walking down the sidewalk not near anyone. That confuses me.

I am one of those people who travels to and fro on the streets, masked up. Between fear of reinfection once I get to a store or long-term care facility or office, and the wildfire smoke alerts...

Yeah, I saw a LOT of people wearing masks when I was in Toronto last week.

I never smelled any of the wildfire smoke, but for the first couple of days, I definitely could see the haze.

As for barriers, I admit I got kind of pissed off when I was on the UP Express and I kept banging into the barrier next to my seat.
