Did you know who Kate Mulgrew was when she got the part of Janeway?

I was just wondering how many people knew who Kate Mulgrew was when she got the part of Janeway. I didn't know who she was as I was only in high school when Voyager started.

I didn't. But I was only 12 years old when VOY started. Was she someone with a name in the business back then? I know, she was Mrs. Columbo some years before, but that got cancelled after a short time and I don't remember seeing her in anything else.

I remembered her as the lead in a short-lived series called "Heartbeat" in the late 80s. I liked her in that, so was glad to hear she'd been cast.

I knew her as the female army officer from "Remo Williams - The Adventure Begins" (1985). Color me strange.

I knew of her from the soap opera "Ryan's Hope".

Yeah, exodus. Mom knew her from that too. I had no clue who she was in the beginning either..then Mom told me, "Oh she played on Ryan's Hope as Mary". I was like what is Ryan's Hope??" she said: "A soap opera". I say: "oh, that figures!". Mom used to LOVE soap operas in the 80s and 90s...now not as much as before. Anyway, I had no freaking clue who she was..but I remembered she was a fierce individual who obviously took no crap from anyone!

I never knew any of the Trek actors before Trek. Except for Brooks, who I was like, "Hey, it's my man Hawk!" and Stewart who I was like, "Whoa, it's that dude from Excalibur!"

I knew Kate Mulgrew from Remo Williams, too. I had also seen her in a movie called A Stranger Is Watching.

You've never seen Ethan Philips on "Benson" or Tim Russ showing up on "Family Matters"? Robert Duncan McNiel is from the He-Man movie with Dolph Lungren, Frank Langella & Courtney Cox.

You've never seen Ethan Philips on "Benson" or Tim Russ showing up on "Family Matters"? Robert Duncan McNiel is from the He-Man movie with Dolph Lungren, Frank Langella & Courtney Cox.

The only one I would have seen was Tim Russ on Family Matters since I watched TGIF all the time when I was a kid. But to be honest, I don't remember him on FM. Did he have a reocurring role??? What character?

I can't answer that one, I never was a big fan of the TGIF line up.

Where's T'Mara when you need her? I have no doubt she would know.
