Why not use the Stargazer?

Yes, about Yorktown! I've had the same thought. I was thinking more about Yorktown being the first ship name Roddenberry was going with before Enterprise, more than the fan theory though. Either way, it would've been a nice nod. My only quibble is that we wouldn't have gotten a replica of the Luna-class Titan onboard, but they could've just included Luna-class starships at Frontier Day or something to scratch that itch for me.

There were Luna class ships at Frontier Day

If anything, Matalas doesn't seem to know what the word "refit" means. After all, the Stargazer in season 2 was also described in dialogue as being a refit of the original ship Picard commanded, and simultaneously described as a new ship as well. Then in season 3 we see the actual original Stargazer that Picard commanded at the Fleet Museum.
Yep, also among the fleet in season 2 as well.

I really don't think the name of the ship is what's going to tip the scales one way or the other for Paramount. If they were to produce Strange New Worlds and Legacy simultaneously, they would just emphasize the Legacy characters over the ship in the marketing.

No, what might tip the scales is the question of whether or not they're willing to spend the money producing three live-action shows (Strange New Worlds, Starfleet Academy, and Legacy) simultaneously again.

I’m not sure what a show about Captain Seven of the Enterprise-G would do that would be different from a show about Captain Pike of the Enterprise-nil. Especially since the level of technology is about the same in both shows despite a 150 year time span difference.

I mean, presumably the characters would be different. Potentially the tone and style could be different.

Like, Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor are both medical dramas, but no one asks what they do differently from one-another. Chicago P.D., Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Rookie are all police dramas, but no one asks what they do differently from one-another. Shows with similar formats can still do distinct things from one-another.

I do think it would be a little much having two series set on a Starship Enterprise going at the same time as a bit much. Though if Legacy starts as Strange New Worlds is on the way out, or close to it, I don't think it would matter that much. The characters and the setting, and the stories both create, should make each series distinct enough. I do wish that the Enterprise-G looked distinct to make a potential Legacy series stand out more compared to Strange New Worlds or TOS if they would put out Legacy to run simultaneously with SNW so that anyone new to Trek and just looking at say a poster, could pick out Legacy from SNW.

Legacy will be exactly what it says on the tin: Legacy characters, legacy locations, following up with Cardassians, Breen, Klingons, Ferengi, Bajorans, etc. It would not be new.

I really don't think the higher ups are Paramount give a shit about "too many Enterprise shows!".

Will it get viewers and new subscribers
    How much will it cost
    Will it retain existing subscribers
What kind of marketing and tie ins could we do
    Will it make us money

Thats the concerns. The people that cut the checks have way different priorities than the fans do.

That's what I'm expecting. Fan priorities often times involve more check lists than a Quality Control department.

If people already aren’t subscribing to Paramount+ in order to watch SNW, then making yet another show with an Enterprise really won’t make much of a difference to them. Between the high costs of producing such a show and not getting enough subscribers to make it worth their while, CBS/Paramount will ultimately lose money. Banking on nostalgia only goes so far.

The writers liked the Titan novels, so this was a nod to the series of books featuring the Titan? That’s my best guess.

Picard and his team simply told Starfleet what happened?
In STO, that's how Starfleet Intelligence learns about the Confederation of Earth. And the crew provides enough information for Starfleet engineers to replicate and commission the World Razer-class juggernaut.

Why not? It's not like it's some outlandish tale that Starfleet and the Federation government wouldn't believe. Hell, they literally have a Federation Department of Temporal Investigations because time travel happens often it enough it needs a bureaucracy to manage it.

If using the Titan was meant to be a "nod" to the Titan novels, then it's even more confusing they created a new design rather than using the Luna class. You know, from the Titan novels.

Time travel shenanigans are old hat to Star Trek. Of course it's in the log. And then the DTI comes up and asks follow up questions.

    It's all in the manual.

Not quite. Matalas liked a fan-made ship design and changed it by about 10% to create a new ship, then made it the former ship Riker commanded at the end of Nemesis and hand-waved the differences from the novel ship (which it looks nothing like) away with some nonsense about a refit. It's far more a nod to Nemesis than to the novels.
