Ghosts (US)

Great show! I don't watch much network TV anymore but Ghosts is incredible. Great cast and characters. Funny as Hell. I know it is a rip-off of the Britain version (which I enjoy too). But in my opinion, like The Office, it is better than the original.
Networks sitcoms are back with Ghosts, Abbott Elementary, and American Auto.

I thought it started off weakly, copying the British version too closely (like the first season of The Office did) but got better as it went on. It's a pleasant, entertaining enough way to kill half an hour.

I actually liked it. Initially i had watched the original UK version and was a big fan of it. And so when the U.S version came out, i thought it will not be good as the U.K one. Boy, was I surprised by the show. The. U.S version started slowly but its later episodes improved a lot in quality. The U.K version has more warmth and was touching to watch while the U.S version is more funny and creative in its story telling.

Love this show. Although, with that season two finale - I'm hoping it isn't what we think it is.

Potential Ghosts UK spoiler....

They spend the whole episode thinking one of the main ghosts was beamed up because they can't find him or her, when in reality it was a supporting ghost and the missing ghost was outside the whole time.

I watch the U.S. version of Ghosts every week. I think the cast is wonderful (especially Hetty), but on the whole I'd prefer much less sentimentality and more laughs. The show is at best, what, 21 minutes minus the commercials? I want a sitcom to make me laugh for those 21 minutes, not try to make me go "aw!" after some syrupy Hallmark card moment. Seinfeld was the gold standard in that regard, where the motto for the writing staff was reportedly "No hugging, no learning".

I watched the UK version first. Probably the first 2 seasons of that one in a binge. I've always liked British humor.

Then I moved on to the US version and was quite surprised how good and funny it is and I like it more than the UK version. If there were any characters I took a while to warm to, it was the livings, but it didn't take long.

Great cast chemistry from the start. Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty) was Auntie Borg from Picard S1. I'm not sure I've seen any of the others in anything else.

nuNight Court, Ghosts and Animal Control have been the only broadcast TV shows I have watched in recent years, and they're all great.

Yep! We checked it out for Rose McIver because we loved her in iZombie.

In the first season there's a line about wanting to dress up in costumes that don't sexualize her and I wonder if that was a reference to iZombie.

I prefer the UK ghosts as well. I'm also watching US Ghosts, Night Court, and Animal Control but I'm not super liking them. They're more background, something light and immediately forgettable. It's been a long time since there was a sitcom that I thought was really high quality and not just background filler. I'm talking Community, 30 Rock, Fraser, etc.

Was there an issue about that? I watched the entire run, but don't recall hearing that she was unhappy with her costumes. That said, I can totally understand.

Season premiere was tonight. Last season ended on a cliffhanger with one of the ghosts being "sucked off." If it was going to be one of the main cast, there were two characters I considered expendable and I was right. Unless it's all a fake out and that character isn't gone.

I was half expecting the character to turn up right at the end. Maybe after getting lost in the woods or something, that would be believable.

I actually really liked the character, but kind of one or two note written that way. Also the actor is really gorgeous.

Still, glad the show is back. One of very few modern day shows not related to MCU, Star Trek or Star wars that I really like.

I love this show so much! Everyone is so great!

I was really sad for Thor. I liked Flower.

I want Jay to see the ghosts at least once, somehow.

I’m so relieved that Rose McIver’s pregnancy will not be written into the show.

Jay can see the Audience, that's a much better super power, although Deadpool can see Ghosts and the Audience.
