An animated movie might be great

With the announcement of direct-to-P+ movies, and this Fleet Command add always coming up on my phone, I thought these 3D models and textures look so good that they could be used to make a movie. More lifelike than PRO, and they only have to get the actors back for the voices, no makeup etc.

The quality is amazing, especially with it just being a game ad! Imagine what could be done with these already existing files :D

Much as I generally dislike animated stuff, I could live with that !

They do look good, but why has nobody got the wormhole SFX right?
I was about to say this is the only thing I genuinely like about this. The character designs are much too lifeless for my tastes, but I like how they reinterpreted the wormhole effect. Not that the original needs any updating, mind you. Because even after all these years it still looks absolutely magical and it's kinda astonishing how no-one seems to be able to really recreate what they did with practical effects in the 90s (or early CGI effect, for that matter). But as a reinterpretation I like the cloud texture on this one.

As for the general idea of bringing back Deep Space Nine as an animated show: After seeing what they did with DS9 elements on Picard I must say I'm kinda lukewarm on the idea of the current set of writers successfully bringing these beloved characters back. I loved the visit to the station in Lower Decks, but I'm dubious on the prospects of anyone trying their hands on a more serious return to the characters and setting. Whenever they brought back characters from Voyager on Picards, for example, they always seemed kinda off to me and their inclusion seems gratuitous. I guess I'd rather have no continuation of Deep Space Nine at all than something that just doesn't feel right.

Avery Brooks might be up for some voice work.

Brooks is no longer interested in doing anything Star Trek-related. And since they would have to pay him for using his likeness (unless CBS has the rights to his likeness as along as he looks like he did in DS9), I don’t see this happening unless they just didn’t use Sisko.
