Yeah, it's pretty much a sure deal that the new stadium is gonna have a roof.

Edit: Apparently the A's are going to play at the Aviators' ballpark (which, interestingly, has no naming rights, it's just called Las Vegas Ballpark) until the new stadium is completed. Linky
Oh yeah, A roof would be the way to go. But retractable or not?

Drew Smyly loses a perfect game (against the Dodgers) in the 8th on the "Pittsburgh Pirates Special" Maybe they don't throw the runner out anyway, but damn.

Cubs are surprisingly decent so far. 11-6, 2nd in team BA .286, 5th in team ERA 3.07.

Marcus Stroman as a 0.75 ERA (somehow 2-1), Justin Steele sitting at 1.44 (3-0). The other 3 starters are kinda meh.

They just did to the A's what good teams should do to the A's, sweep them with extreme prejudice (10-1, 4-0, 12-2).
Drew Smyly just pitched a perfect game into the eighth inning with nine strikeouts against the Dodgers (he just lost it with an infield single to David Peralta).

Also, the Cubs are crushing the Dodgers with multiple multi-run homers.

I don't want to jinx it so I want to say it...but whaaaa...?!

Cubs have been scoring in bunches quite a few times. They could've used some of these 13 runs last night.

Settling in for Ohtani vs. The Royals at home.

Nice way to (hopefully) right the ship.

Damn, I love my MLBTV!

PS: it’s Star Wars night at the Big A.

Anyone know exactly when the A's are gonna make the move?

The plan on playing in the Aviators' park does seem to suggest it's soon...

I saw something about starting play at the MiL park in 2027. You'd think they could have a ML park ready in 4 years.

Brewers park took 4½ years from groundbreaking to opening, but Mariners park only took 2 years. Both are retractable roof parks. Could be whatever (if anything) is on the LV property will take a while to demolish.

I believe part of the timeframe is due to the Athletics' lease at the Coliseum.

No doubt there. Just musing about why they wouldn't have the new LV digs ready by 2027. Seems to be a wide range of start to finish times for big builds.

I think 2027 is when the new ballpark is supposed to be ready. That's why the A's are playing at the Aviators' stadium first.

As for the Coliseum site, I wonder if the plans for a memorial park on that site (like what happened with Yankee Stadium) are still on the books.

The new stadium is gonna be right off the Strip. I imagine that when you build near a place like that it'll take longer than if it was out in the middle of nowhere.

Las Vegas is in the middle of nowhere.

Seriously, it's in the middle of the fucking desert.

^ Oh. Okay then. It's been awhile since I've been there.

And it's probably tripled in size since then (my dad took me there for my 21st birthday, and that was three decades ago).

Can't wait to see what kind of tour package Sports Travel & Tours comes up with for this one.

Not only that, but right now they currently have the best win-loss record in the NL, and in all of MLB are second only to the Rays. Whatever they're doing different this year, I hope they keep on doing it.

I feel like the Pirates decided to go full Major League in the face of Bob Nutting's cheapskate horseshit.

"Win the whole fucking thing."
