Top Gun Maverick or Mad Max Fury Road or a Creed
These three are definitely the best of the trend by far.
Top Gun Maverick or Mad Max Fury Road or a Creed
Keeping them static, sticking them back in their old positions, pretending like nothing ever changes.
Give me the ST.
Emotionally it felt much different. That's literally what "Force Awakens" does. Hits reset on the entire galaxy and puts the OT heroes (well, Han and Leia, at least) literally exactly where they were 30 odd years ago.
I'd like to add, THIS season, THIS story, again as corny it is with plot potholes and fan service, THIS is what Star Wars fans wanted out of those putrid sequels and were cruelly denied. It's what I still love about the TOS movies, that despite advanced age and body mass, the OG crew hit their marks and saved the dang day each time. Just old fashioned simple movie making. Enough with the flaws, and turning our heroes into alkies or something, no, they're older, they're wiser, and they're here to WIN I SAY. WIN.
Thus far, it doesn't appeal to me.
And just when I was on board with maybe caring about Jack they double down on the nostalgia. It's bitter.
Who the fuck is this "we"?! That's starting to sound like the Borg.
Don't presume to speak for others. Fans are not of one opinion. I'm seeing a diverse range of opinions about this episode on this BBS and elsewhere.
You speak for yourself. Got it?
Group think or royal we?
And I have my answer.Well consider that next time you press the 'Like' button on this forum.![]()
I'm seeing vast majority praise for this across the socials (Twitter, YT, etc). Places where much larger groups of audiences post how much they enjoyed it.
I see the holes. I see more than I say. It just doesn't impact my enjoyment of the season. I can be aware of the season's faults and still enjoy it at the same time. Some prefer to get there themselves. Not to be told how to think because “everyone else is doing it.” People like things that remind them of other things. That’s how it goes. I would love in one year to ask everyone to revisit this season and see how it fares. I’m going to bet once the absolutely understandable nostalgia wears off people are going to start to see the holes. And I’m going to get that those who are critical are probably going to see it a little bit better. At the moment, I rate it overall a C-. Honestly, after I can sit on it for awhile and maybe revisit it away from people (like you) telling me it’s the best thing ever, it’s probably going to land as a B- season for me with the best parts being Jonathan Frakes as a whole and the Ro episode.

Precisely so. And I was onboard...until this last episode. Now, not so much.
It's fine that they went with nostalgia but please don't tell me that "This is Star Trek" when what is meant is "this is nostalgia and in the feels." At least be honest about why you like it, rather than claiming all the perfection of this season and it's writing the ship and stuff. No, it got us in the nostalgia feels. And when that wears off, then what?![]()
Indeed. The exultation is off putting for me, and always has for me.I don’t like being told how to feel about things.
But this is the best Trek season IMO maybe ever.
