Spoilers Please explain the baddie plan

Are you even capable of having a discussion about them or a debate about them without having to have preconditions that any and all discussions of prior trek are not valid because of reasons?

I have no preconditions. Very aware of the plotholes, plotholes that I've discussed with the forum already.

Good, because they make sense.
Not incredibly, no. An alliance between Skeletor, The Borg, and the outcast changelings makes no sense apart from "We're evil. We kill starfleet!"
Their motives are different:

The Changelings don't appear to want to do anything more than get revenge for what was, after all, a pretty crappy time they had experienced being experimented upon. Ok, I get that.

Skeletor, fuck knows, unless that's actually the Borg Queen, or Future Man or Balok or something. You know what, it's Balok. The big bad guy is Balok. He's mad that people switched from tranja to romulan ale. Game over.

The Borg: usual Borg assimilation stuff. Only they're not really assimilating And we're supposed to believe they had this other technological strain embedded in Locutus that they never took advantage of or developed for dozens of years. This also more or less jettisons the season 2 plot of there being a new way forward for the Borg. Well fuck that, we're just going to pave over season 1 and 2 with the new Terryfied Season 3.

It's easy to dismiss all of that, especially the latter bit by saying "well that's just one kind of Borg" but the point is that it diminishes the viewers commitment to the show. There will be enough hand-waving to this reply to probably power a wind-farm, but it's lazy writing, and its disrespectful. They didn't even wait a few seasons this time to tear it all down.

No more than all the other times in the last 50 years that characters have been able to escape/evade/defeat or otherwise circumvent security.

I'm not talking about one moment here of stupidity; I'm talking about the repetition of it. Every single episode is bereft of feeling, texture, pacing or anything remotely leaning towards proper storytelling. Every espisode is lacking in any logic. This show was just designed to get the old crew back together. That's not good enough. I want a good story. And I'm not going to talk about examples anymore. I'm tired.

Most people seem to disagree with you. Maybe you're just not seeing it.

It's quite obviously the queen, you can tell by the way it talked. Plus how else would Vadic learned about those things about Jack?

Like I said before, I couldn't be arsed going down this road again. It's horrendously written. I've explained myself a few times over ( and in a very limited way- could write an essay over how bad this is), with no real answers back but anyway, live and let live.

Face is the queen, Terry said it on Twitter

At this point if there were some convoluted last minute plot that Tom Riker went back in time to put the non-nano-nano-thingies in Picard at the moment he was assimilated and then went back in time further to make sweet love to the Borg Queen as a rebound after Data rejected her attempts to woo him with her arm-hair fetish weirdness, went back to the future, and nearly got caught by O'brien but quickly remembered he had nothing to say to the chief and assumed the man knew why, then got out of prison, arranged to have Riker's kid killed in an early test of the Jack Crusher experiment and then in the meantime bought a 50 latinium voice changer app from Quark's so he could fool Honey Bunny into thinking he was vaguely Alice Krige-esque and not the other one because of the whole Jurati thing, there would be people here would would accept and praise it and offer their anything they were born with two of to Matalas if he'd just keep churning out that drivel.

But yes, you're right, as i am reminded. It is the Queen. She's a goddess, dynamite with a laserbeam.

She's about as close as you can get to being a god outside of a Q in Star Trek terms lol.

damn.. guy can't get a break.

Then there's no more need to rehash it.

You can't isolate this show from Star Trek just to tear it apart outside of the context of the franchise it is part of, it's nonsensical.

Actually you absolutely can. If a story is badly done it's badly done. "You have to give them a pass because they do bad a lot" is lame.

Everyone is blinded by callbacks to their childhood and not that many people seem to be noticing that this mystery box plot makes as much sense as Discovery season 2.

Oh, now calling something as bad as the second year of that show is just mean.

It may not be the most logical or award-winning scriptwriting but it's the Borg Queen. Look, this season is far from perfect but it's not as if all the threads are impossible to follow. Matalas said it's the Queen so I'm satisfied.

It's not as if the Borg in the Berman Era always followed a linear and consistent pattern of how they behaved or even were portrayed.

  • They see an opportunity and devise the plan to use the renegade Changelings as a way to surreptitiously infiltrate Starfleet given that they've failed two times to take the Federation by force in an open invasion.

I mean..the Borg never really tried to invade. They sent 1 ship to Earth 2 times 6 years apart and that's it. They didn't try to assimilate any other federation worlds or ships or try to assimilate the other main powers in any large capacity. Didn't create more drones and ships and move their way inward. They made two direct attempts at Earth and that's it.

The Borg should probably focus on trying to assimilate the Dominion first. We know they can assimilate Medusans. If they can't assimilate changelings then they should adapt and find a way.

Let's say the Borg assimilate the Fed. Odo will rally the Dominion to take down the Borg and sympathies will be with the Dominion (the Klingons will join, etc.)

If the Borg assimilate the Dominion first, no one cares. Everyone still hates them after the war. Even the Fed might not help (we saw how generous they were after the Mars attack after all)

And in Season 2 tied most of those up in the most hamfisted and unsatisfying ways possible.
