I wonder if we will see Martok in the last episode? A Klingon fleet as a backup is one of the few scenarios I can think of where the Enterprise survives. Plus, given his involvement with fan films, J.G. Hertzler seems to have modest expectations when it comes to his pay.

I don't care if he is MAGA. That's not against the law. I want more Barclay. He can have dumb opinions in his private time if he wants. When you watch the character you are not seeing Schultz. You are seeing Barclay.

I'm a non American so I had to Google MAGA.

I Don't see you how that should matter. Yeah Hollywood is liberal but since they're all about inclusion, diversity and tolerance, I'm sure they would welcome diverse political backgrounds of all types . That's what Star Trek is a about. Star Trek has been great in that regard recently.

I just discovered that Season 3 was filmed directly after Season 2. I also discovered that it was set over one year after the second season. Which leads me to wonder how Seven, a person in her mid-to-late 50s, ended up joining Starfleet and reaching the rank of commander, let alone becoming a first officer? How did she accomplish all of this within a year? Why would Shaw, who had issues with the Borg, choose her to be his first officer?

Simple! Admiral Janeway pulled strings at Starfleet.

Really? Didn't Seven complain back in Season 2 that Janeway had tried and failed to get her into Starfleet on more than one occasion? What happened after Season 2? Or did Picard help Seven's career? Or better yet, is this a prime example of bad writing?

I don't think she did. Starfleet looked at her time on Voyager and her time with the Fenris Rangers, looked at her equivalent experience, looked at what was transferrable experience... and Picard and Janeway pulled some strings.

Janeway by herself probably wasn't enough. I think it was the Picard/Janeway combination.

Plus a seasoned Admiral Janeway in 2400 would have a lot more clout than a newly-promoted and recently-returned Admiral Janeway in 2378. That's a whole 22 years where she was able to establish herself with the bigwigs and play the political game.

Matalas said in an interview that Seven gave up before Janeway went full bat for her.

Anti-Trek political viewpoints shouldn't be accepted.

Political litmus tests for jobs, like acting (and the vast majority of others) where one’s personal opinion is not a required element of the job “shouldn’t be accepted”. To do so would be the epitome of “anti-Trek” behaviour (not to mention illegal in many countries). One’s right to a political opinion is not limited to its popularity nor its perceived “correctness”. I’ve avoided pointing to specific examples as this isn’t the appropriate forum for that kind of thing but, as a general principle, the above applies.

Not that I think he'd appear, but if Barclay were to appear in Picard, I'd think to myself, "This is Barclay, not Dwight Schultz". Unless Dwight Shultz can't really act anymore, in which case, then I'd be like, "No. You're not Barclay, you're Dwight Schultz!"

Jumping off the political angle, actors who haven't acted in a while have really shown in some spots. When Wesley appeared at the end of Season 2, I couldn't buy Wil Wheaton's performance. I was thinking, "No. You're not Wesley, you're Wil Wheaton from The Ready Room making a cameo!"
