Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

Seven and Raffi's relationship was the best part of No Man's Land, so I'm rather disappointed that the most recent episode has depicted them as split up. :( I know Raffi said something along those lines in the first episode of the season, but I assumed that was just part of her cover.

(Note that I haven't read Second Self yet, so if it touches on any of this, I haven't seen it.)

So when is The Return 2 happening?

Technically TV show spoilers don't have to be spoiler-coded in this thread, since they're marked in the thread title. I'll just respond in kind since you used them, though.

The first time I watched, I didn't even pick up on the "alive" hints, and just thought they were his remains. Then I saw something on YouTube about him possibly being alive based on the sound cues... and I just find that thought absolutely horrifying. I know Section 31 isn't supposed to be the greatest bunch of people, but damn. :(

Genesis which can bring people back to life. Kirk. Potentially Archer too. All those old ships....

All building up to a crossover event even treklit has never imagined could be done...

The Genesis device is used to destroy the place, but all the corpses regenerate a la Spock?

While resurrecting Data has been the quintessential TNG sequel premise since Star Trek Nemesis, I do wonder if this season's writers happened to have read the Cold Equations trilogy.

All I know is, I'm damn tired of this thing where no one can stay dead. Resurrection is the sort of thing you can do to a character once. Resurrection #2 just breaks verisimilitude too much for me.

Curiously enough, several years ago I gave Brent Spiner a copy of the first Cold Equations novel, The Persistence of Memory, at a Shore Leave Convention. He shrugged it off, said he'd likely never read it...

…and yet, in a recent Collider interview, showrunner Terry Matalas said of the Data storyline in Star Trek: Picard season three:
“Brent was unbelievably collaborative with it, and Brent had ideas that only elevated it in ways I couldn’t have imagined. In fact, some of the best moments of this story were Brent’s idea.”

Whether any of those great ideas from Brent were planted in his brain by reading my novel, we will never know.

I'm not saying. I'm just saying. :)

If that's where this is going, I would be very surprised. And not in a good way.

I'm really hoping that this one becomes more of a distinct, mixed personality than another Data. Then at least it's more like "son of Data" than Data.
Thing is, we already have Soji as Data's daughter, meaning Data's "family legacy" if you will can live on in her. Bringing back a new Data, even one altered enough to be of a "Data's son" rather than a resurrected Data, just feels unnecessary and redundant.

You have Kirk and the Enterprise A. It just writes itself
92 year-old Shatner (though he'd have been, what? ninety when they filmed season 3?) reprising Kirk is unrealistic, though. Would they "de-age" Kirk by using Paul Wesley from Strange New Worlds? Or bring in Chris Pine for some stunt casting power? Or have yet another actor playing a 60-something Kirk?

Archer's body isn't in that episode. What people saw was a TOS Android.

Yeah bringing back Data to say a proper goodbye was great... the first time.

This time I was like, REALLY??
Well I don't think we're getting Data back. He's probably going to be a new character by the end of the season. All the personalities will merge and create a new person.

Having a new "son of Data" is a redundancy I can accept for the pleasure of reuniting Brent Spiner with the rest of the TNG cast. I just really don't want him to play Data again, even if it's Data_Copy_2.5 or whatever.

ETA:

I remain, as ever, deeply disappointed that the PIC writers have chosen to write out Soji instead of keeping her on as a principal character. To me, the climax of PIC S1 was that scene in "Et in Arcadia Ego, Part II," where Jean-Luc and Soji accept one-another as ersatz grandfather and granddaughter -- "That's why we're here: to save each other." That scene to me was a promissory note that the Jean-Luc/Soji relationship would be the cornerstone to the rest of the series... and then Soji was used for exactly one scene in S2 and never seen again. Very frustrating. And she would be such a natural ally to want to have if you're on the run from Starfleet!

@Tuskin38 , is it possible to tag what your spoilers are spoiling, like everyone else has done? I'm afraid to open the spoiler in this post, because I don't know if it is just further personal speculation building on @Paul Weaver 's prediction, or if it is actually revealing a detail that you have learned from someone who has already seen future episodes in the season.

To be clear, I am just asking as a poster, not a mod, so there is no obligation to do as I've asked, and you are free to disregard. It would just be a bit of a courtesy for those of us who are fine with reading speculation about future episodes, but want to avoid actual confirmed story details from future episodes.

(For the same reason, I didn't reply to your actual post, since doing so would expose the spoiler text in the reply box.)
