The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

Yeah, I guess they can be a little creepy at times. I tend to think of them as cute little teddy bears, but they can be kinda scary when they're pissed off.

Are Koalas and Kangaroos the only animals in Australia that aren't weird and/or creepy as hell?

Ok, now I'm not quite so scared of Australia.

Yeah, they're strong.

We found out earlier this week that the park will be doing guided hike where the donkeys hang out with one of their rangers tomorrow. My mom I are going to go and we're hoping to get some of our questions about the donkeys answered. The only problem is it's only supposed to be a mile hike, and we tend to go out farther than that to actually find them. We're also not fans of crowds, so we decided if a lot of people are there, we're just going to go and look for them by ourselves.

Jacob's Ridge recently saved an adorable little baby goat.

The donkey hike ended up being complete bullshit, it was nothing but lies and pro-BLM propaganda. My mom and I finally walked away when the ranger talking about the BLM donkeys and horses blatantly lied about how horses graze. She was saying horses graze by pulling up the grass and the cows bit it off, but this is the complete opposite of how it works, the horses bit off the grass, and I know this for a fact because I was actually crouched down right by a couple of horses faces watching a couple of horses grazing back during the week, and I could see them biting off the grass. And they were making it sound all the stuff the BLM is doing wonderful and heroic, and it's really, really not. We couldn't handled some of that, but the blantant lie about a basic physological fact, like the way horses graze, was just too much.

Sorry, the BLM is the Bureau of Land Management, which oversees the US's wild horses and donkeys that live on land that they control. According to the Ranger who was giving the talk during the walk, the donkeys at the park come from a Herd Management Area (HMA), which is what the BLM calls the areas where they live, a few miles away. So the park itself isn't part of an HMA, but the donkey might be under the BLM's control. Which really sucks since it means there's a chance they could get rounded up, since the BLM will use any excuse to get rid of them.

Arthur's Acres' Paulie is back home, after he got sick and ended up in the hospital a few days ago.

Thank you for the explanation. That certainly changes the context of the post from how I originally read it.

I don't know where that is. But it might be a lagoon. The IMGur user has been asked where that shot was taken, but they haven't responded yet.
