Space Jellyfish Lights

Should they have harvested space medusas and installed them as lights on the Titan?

Should the crew of the Titan have taken a minute and harvested the shiny space jellyfish and installed them as lights on the Titan because everything is so damn dark? Discuss.
Yes. No? Maybe…or not. I dunno. Perhaps? If only I could see well enough to read my notes from the meeting…

Okay, what if they got accepted into the Federation, went to Starfleet Academy and got paid in Federation credits to be lights?
They can get in following the path Peanut Hamper took. But fast tracked, and promised no dangerous missions in exchange for providing lights so we can see anything. Optionally, emergency transport, as it seems they are going to be in dire need of such often this season.

Don't get me wrong, the lack of set lighting is utterly laughable but I'm still not about to advocate slavery lol

Plus, if the Holodecks can "operate on their own power supply" just so that writers have an excuse to handwave them into running during emergencies for "teh drama", then the sodding lighting can too.

This would be too much akin to what Captain Ransom immorally did, a total plot rehash.

But if one of them wants to suck on the Titan’s nacelle…

Isn't that slavery?

If they're like Earth jellyfish, then they have no sentient brains - only a rudimentary nervous system reacting to external stimuli, which is far lower on the evolutionary scale than having a brain that only has a somewhat greater reaction to stimuli and some emotional patterning. They're more or less pet rocks*, just slightly more complex but don't come in a cute box with garish 70s font emblazoned on it.

Debate idea: Is "No emotional patterning = not enslavement" a thing?

It's like looking at a light bulb. No sentience. No brain. Just a wire**.

* and its antagonistic neighbor, "Pebble Pal". Not to be mistaken as its offspring, since rocks don't bang, not even if you throw two of them at each other. Unless they're the rocks seen in the TOS classic episode "The Apple"...

** tungsten filament, light-emitting diode, or cold cathode fluorescent assembly that has a flow of electrons running through it, also noting it probably costs less to "feed" it.
