Will Sam Beckett Return Home? NBC Orders Quantum Leap Reboot Pilot

I think Ben wanted to save all the sub crew, but that Martinez was only out to save one of them. Just a theory.

I know they were trying to downplay the 'butterfly effect' in this episode... But saving what was it 138? people would have died and putting them back into the timeline has gotta lead to significant changes.

As to the 'one guy' theory. Perhaps Addison is 'effected' in some way by the changes to her Father's past and that was what the other leaper wanted to accomplish.

Though Martinez still seems to think that Ben is following him rather than circumstances beyond his control for his leaps.

And whatever device Martinez used for his initial leap doesn't seem to have swiss cheesed his memory.

When it comes to Addison, I'm wondering if there will be any references to her father being in her life as she was growing up but then again outside of Ziggy, would anyone really know (it's no wonder time travel gave Janeway a headache).

That ship sailed much earlier in the series. How many times has an episode ended with Addison telling Ben that in the new timeline, thousands of lives were saved because he helped bring down a drug cartel or got a dangerous drug banned or something like that?

I don't think that will happen. They addressed that when Addison's father said that her mother didn't love him and he didn't think they'd ever find a way to connect. So it seems like his distance had nothing to do with these specific events, that the Augustines' family life would've been pretty much unchanged whether he'd been disgraced or not.

Plot twist! In the "present" a war will break out caused by the world overpopulation due to all the people saved by Ben!

I apologize if this has been raised earlier. I've been thinking about a few things:
1. The mystery leaper, Martinez.
2. Ben said he leaped to save Addison.
3. Future Ian leaped to the past to tell Ben to leap.

Is future Ian is working for the same organization (either a future PQL or a different entity) that Martinez works for and they leaped to tell Ben to leap to stop Martinez from harming Addison?

Haven't seen much from Janis lately. Would be nice if she dropped a few more breadcrumbs.

Also, something must have gone wrong as Addison was the one who was supposed to be leaping, not Ben. Maybe, something happened to Addison, like with Sam. But Ian found a way to fix things by having Ben leap...due to reasons. Why future Ian didn't talk with present-day Ian too..Mmmm??

I don't think it was a two parter, but more of a follow up episode- Not sure how many episodes between the time Sam leaped into his younger self in Indiana and into Magic in that bar in Vietnam.

It was the two parter that opened Season 3 - The Leap Back Parts 1 & 2.

Sam helps his team win the basket ball game then leaps in to Magic.

I must have caught the two episodes out of sequence last time I watched them. Thanks for clarifying.

So anyone can be the hologram now, huh? In the original show, only Al could communicate with Sam because of their mental link through Ziggy, but here it's something anyone can do; it's just usually Addison's job. Well, I guess that makes sense in the context of this more ensemble-driven series, because it allows other characters to interact with Ben. We've already had Ian in the imaging chamber once, just as a passive observer with no interaction with Ben, but they may well get the chance to interact with Ben later on, and potentially Magic could get his turn as a hologram too. That would be cool -- when I first heard that Ernie Hudson would be in this show, I expected him to be the "Al" character, so it'd be nice to see that finally happen.

Once again, the lead female guest star is someone I could swear I've seen before, but is totally unknown to me according to her IMDb credits. Either I'm getting more face-blind with age, or the show's casting people just have a type they favor.

It's weird for Ben to leap before he learns the outcome. In the original series, Sam often leaped within moments of finally achieving his goal, but in this show there's usually plenty of time afterward for Ben and Addison's denouement.

There were at least two episodes that had somebody other than Al as the hologram (Killin' TIme, with Gushie, and Raped, with Dr. Beeks). I don't remember what kind of technobabble they had to pull off, but it was clearly possible.
