What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I actually think overall my favourite is Capaldi, but I don't hate McCoy by any means.

Colin Baker is shit.

His audio stories are a lot better.

For a while there he's running with a former companion of 8, who is very worried about the Web of time.

There's a "what if" audio story where the Valeyard wins the Trial of a Time Lord, he eats 6's remaining lives, so Mel Kills the Valeyard.

But yes, 6 on TV sucks donkey balls.

Joining in the controversial Dr Who opinions: Sylvester McCoy was “my Doctor” as a kid. That was when I started watching it and I was really upset when it ended.

OK, back to Star Trek, this might be extremely controversial but…..

This has niggled at me for a while, but I don’t think I like the AR wall they’re using in SNW and DSC. What was wrong with old green screen? The problem is you can TELL when they’re using the AR wall, because you see the curves and it’s often very clear where the studio floor ends and the AR wall begins. The graphics are also overkill sometimes; just too much for me. Less is more sometimes. Let the stoning commence.

Hell, Sylvester McCoy is SOMEONE's favorite Doctor.

Probably my 2nd favorite Doctor after the king of them all, Jon Pertwee. That man laid in some major groundwork for the way the public considers the very idea of the Doctor.

Somewhere someone thinks that they didn't get James Kirk right until Chris Pine played the role.

Let's avoid polling loony bins for Kirk-grading.

McCoy isn't my favourite Doctor, but the 7th Doctor of the New Adventures novels is what turned me into a Doctor Who fan in the first place.

PS – David Tennant is the most overrated actor in the history of anything ever :nyah:

Tennant just has that rubbery face and love for the silly that Baker imbued for seven long years in the role. Plus I've liked him in other projects like the Fright Night remake so I've got a soft spot for David and his acting style.

McGann has a visual gravitas I think only Capaldi has since matched. I don't count John Hurt's War Doctor as he was later retconned into the continuity.
