Honestly though, he admitted to having issues. He got over them (thanks to Q), but as he said, couldn't he have gotten the chance 20 years ago?

He had the chance to be a father figure fourteen years ago and decided not to pursue it, never even followed up on the kid until he was on his last chance/needed muscle for a job, depending on how generously one wants to read his motivations. Obviously Beverly couldn't have known that, but it does mean I view Picard's plea that he would have risen to the occasion with some skepticism.

At the same time, we're not given any indication that Elnor was frantically writing to Picard and Picard was ignoring him. Picard going out of his way to show interest in Elnor if he's not his father might get him accused of being a creep or whatever. I think it's a bit much to blame Picard for that.

Guys, Beverly doesn't have to be in the right here, she just has to believe she's in the right.
True. But the point is that she looks awful by making a horrible choice. And her thinking she's in the right just makes it all the worse!

I was kind of hoping that this TNG reunion was going to be fun. Instead we get this with Beverly and it looks like we're going to be dragged through the drama between Picard and Riker.

The 'Changeling 1' subtitle over one of Vadic's crew is gone now from Crave in Canada.

Apparently Terry was upset at that sneaking in and ruining the surprise for those who watch with subtitles, which is understandable.

That is the nature of humanity though, is it not? To make horrible choices, to look bad, and how do you recover from it?
It is, and I get that. I'm more thinking along the lines of what do I want to see in a TNG reunion. That type of drama isn't what I was hoping for. So, I'm thinking of it more in terms of writing choices. What type of story will it be. Of course, YMMV.

We're getting a lot of extremely sharp personal discord between our beloved characters. Not that they need to be perfect and have no conflict, but we're getting a dose of real bitter personal stuff. Soap opera stuff. At this point, I'm just hoping that it doesn't persist for too long and mire the series down.

Overall, I'm enjoying this season.

Fair enough. I have no interest in a TNG reuinion so this personal, very human, driven drama appeals to me from a psychological point of view, never mind the scifi action and the intrigue plot which I find the most enjoyable with Worf and Raffi.

Overall, Shaw and Raffi have been the high points for me, Worf right there, followed by Vadic. So, the TNG stuff is middling and I hope the story progresses soon.

Elnor was an orphaned kid in a neglected, non-Federation refugee settlement who had no way of getting in touch with Picard. Picard had already gone out of his way to form a bond with the kid and then dropped out of his life despite promising that he'd return, and never checked in on him, even though he had fourteen years of downtime to do so - that's the source of Picard's guilt and Elnor's resentment when Picard swings back by Vashti. Picard did not necessarily have a duty to take this kid he'd bonded with into better circumstances when he knew the whole support system around the evacuation endevour would dry up, but the fact that the decision gnawed at him and yet he never roused himself to do anything about it doesn't make me so sure he would have been the man he's telling Beverly he would have been if faced with another situation so far out of his comfort zone. And again, this isn't something I'm saying Beverly could have based her decision on, it just means that when both sides are laying out their cases and Picard goes for that particular argument, I don't give him the benefit of the doubt that he's being honest with himself.

Well
Geordi is pissed and Picard, and is upset that his daughter wants to go on this dangerous missions

A one word edit to my post doesn't add a thing to the conversation. Particularly, when it doesn't address the main point of my post. Next time, please try to make an actual point using your own words instead of editing one of my words.

For an example, Fireproof78 did that nicely and it makes it more of a conversation than a pointless edit.

Understood. We each want different things in a story. I think Worf and Raffi have been excellent together. Love that whole aspect. Shaw was fun too. Seven has been great too. So, lots to like!

Does Jack even have a university degree? Since it HAS to be early 2401 (since it still predates the April anniversary of Broken Bow) and even if you have Beverly and Picard get into bed literally after Nemesis in 2379, Jack can't be older than 21. He should be in a school or just graduated from one, yet he's already been doing this frontier thing with his mother for months if not years. Sounds like he doesn't have a university education. I can't see a situation if he was raised with Picard where he'd skip that.
Maybe he's a prodigy?
