Disco Ending In 2024

I figured it was going to end with the fifth season. Said so in some threads before. It really is time to give it a rest. The quality has gone downhill the past several seasons and they sure seem like they're out of ideas.

I think the 4th season was originally going to be the last one. But then there was the delay with the S31 series, which gave Disco time for one more season.

No offense to Jeri Ryan, I've actually enjoyed seeing her back in Trek these last few years, but I cannot imagine she's that expensive. I mean, it's not like she's some super high in demand actress. One look at her IMDB tells us that much. She's a working television actress.
Maybe. But Seven is a pretty popular character, maybe the most popular. I would think that gives Ryan some leverage in contract negotiations, if the history of trying to get Leonard Nimoy as Spock onto a new Trek production after TOS is any indication.

I still think Starfleet Academy is gonna be the next show up. Especially if it’s set in the 32nd century.
I'm hoping no more 32nd century. That era doesn't interest me. I'm hoping they have all future series going from the 25th century onward and develop that era.

Ryan is no Nimoy. Plus, let's be honest. Jeri Ryan would be pushing 60 by the time any kind of spinoff series would reach the masses. The world is a horrible place, and Hollywood is even worse. Do you really think an actress, pushing 60, is going to play hardball if a leading roll in a series came her way? No.

And if they're trying to save money, good luck have having Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine on your Titan show. And if she's not there, that's 50% of your show's appeal gone right there.

She'll probably costs less than Sir Patrick as both leading man and Executive Producer.

This would be a great idea, Terry is less controversial then Kurtzman, could along with Akiva reunite the fandom.

But now I'm hearing from Script Doctor on Midnight's Edge After Dark, that all of New Star Trek could be shit canned, SNW, Prodigy, Lower Decks, although Akiva could save Strange New Worlds because he owns his own production company.

I think the future of Star Trek could be hanging by a thread named Akiva right now. Maybe Terry and Akiva could team up as a kind of James Gunn/pre phase 4 Kevin Feige to save Star Trek from being cancelled completely.
No, no. We're just looking at a slow down in Trek production. Not a shutdown. They're backing away from new ST all year long, but we should get some new ST each year for awhile.

I'm meh on the cancellation, but obviously the questions will come about whether this is the end of the road for Kurtzman?

Captain Shaw with clammy hands and after handling ghost chili peppers would be a more pleasant physical experience than those YouTube accounts.

I mostly don't ever click on that shit because it just takes a few times and then your recommended videos are full of "SHE HULK IS WOKE GARBAGE!!!?!?!?!" and Jordan Peterson for some godawful reason.

Let's be honest; few Trek actors amount to much after Trek is off the air. There are exceptions, like Colm Meaney, but most end up making more on the convention circuit.

I mean no offense to Sir Patrick, but as executive producer it took two seasons of Picard's self-discovery odyssey to get to the season everyone is legit excited about.

I suspect there will be fewer vanity projects and less experimentation, for better and worse.

I'm not saying she would be ridiculously expensive, but if studios are tightening their belts, there may be less of an effort to work in legacy characters like hers. Especially if she was supposed to be part of a new spin-off, like one set on the Titan as been floating in the rumor-mill. And yeah, I do expect this season to be Stewart's last hurrah as Jean-Luc Picard for certain now.

I wouldn't rule out a Titan series happening. It's like having PIC Season 4 without having PIC Season 4. If S3 stays as well-received as it has been, they'll stick with what they think works.

We're now heading into a period where they believe they've ironed out all the kinks, so they'll be less willing to shake things up from here on out.

They'll run whatever they think works into the ground. We're heading into that part of the Kurtzman Era now.

And they have those Titan sets already built, much like they had the Discoprise sets built for Discovery. So maybe we get ST:T. But I think we're at a crossroads.

Only real downside is that those sets are in Los Angeles. Would be far cheaper to film in the Toronto studio where Disco is filmed with SNW still just down the road in Mississauga.

We're not starting from zero.

We have legacy sets left over from Picard. We have the young bridge crew (Chestnut, Czajkowski, et. al).

It might not take as long as you think.

It's going to cost money. We can all agree on that.

That said, it will be cheaper than paying Sir Patrick Stewart.

I mean, watching the Ready Room this week, Frakes all but said it's not ending.

Like, Wil said "it's kind of sad this is the end of our story" and Frakes said something along the lines of "I don't know about that."
