Agreed. People assume dating is quite easy and it isn't always, nor does everyone feel the same level of confidence in pursuing romantic partners or expressing their desires in those relationships.

Fun little story about Tiffany Shepis, the actress who's playing the Titan CMO Dr. Ohk:
She's a regular face at conventions due to her extensive background in the horror genre, and she & I have a mutual friend in common. About a decade ago, this friend took me to one of my first horror conventions, and when he brought me over to introduce me to her, she didn't realize that my friend & I were there together. She looked me up & down and then asked my friend "is this guy bothering you?", and then basically offered to fight me if he wanted. I'm pretty sure she could have taken me too, so I'm glad he explained that "No, he's cool." lol
It's so weird seeing her in a show like Picard since this is definitely not the type of role she's usually in.
Icheb was always just a background NPC never tied to any missions, and Hugh also had a very minor role.
Data is also still in a cutscene. Though you never see his face, he has the Tasha Yar hologram.
Better for drama.
Well first I don't thank a partner would be any impediment to producing offspring int eh 24th century. We have in TNG seen clones and others develop through technological means not biological means. On earth right now we have both egg and sperm banks. 24th century shows it's capable of gestating life outside a biological entity.
So if Picard truly wanted a child, there is no realistic obstacle. Him having difficulty finding a partner wouldn't be a real factor.
The one time we ever see Picard make an active choice to procreate, it's only after he gives up on his belief in his life in Starfleet. While the world he is in is only a artificial construct its still his mind interacting in that construct and it took him years to eventually come to that conclusion.
And there is nothing indicating that the Enterprise was not involved with the Dominion conflict. Its the largest scale conflict that we know of that, there is no way that one of the newest ships and one designed for going against at that point their biggest foe the Borg, would not be active on any of the numerous front line offensives. They might have had to take up important diplomatic charges from time to time, but they would have absolutely been involved in front line combat experiences as well.
Someone had to carry the water for exploration and first contacts...

Yeah, I read that as him still being able to think quickly after a momentary lapse. But the way that scene was portrayed seemed to portray it as a mistake, especially since in the continuity of the editing at least, it felt like maybe only a few minutes had passed.
Terrible. That will never catch on...
Adoption was also an option if he was truly interested in becoming a parent. Heck, he could have dropped Zani a line to see if she ever found a new family for Elnor. So yeah, he's got good reason to be angry, but there's only so much he can rightfully lay at Beverly's feet.

Love this episode. I cannot wait to talk about it on The Artificial Tango. I feel like I need to watch it a couple more times to pick up all the nuance from each performance. 10 out of 10
I hope he's not going to merge with it in the end and create a new lifeform.
Again, one of the things I find most refreshing here is it's already clear unlike the first two seasons of Picard, this is not a "mystery box" plot.
Episode 1 introduced a number of mysteries, including why Beverly had been out of touch for decades, who her son was, who the mysterious attacking ship was, who was behind the terrorist attack Raffi was investigating, and who Raffi's handler was. All of this has already been answered.
Clearly, there's more mysteries yet. We don't know why Vadic and the Changelings want Jack Crusher so badly. We have no idea what they broke out of Daystrom. We don't know if other groups are involved beyond the Changelings. We haven't the foggiest about Jack's vision. But this is the way a well-paced story works - you give some of the answers with each installment, and deepen the story as time goes on.

lol I didn't even think of Tom, but I'd be okay with that twist.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Vadic herself is a Changeling. She smokes, which is something that Changelings can't do, unless they simulate a cigar with part of their body. And while it's possible they could do that, I just don't see why she would bother with no one but her crew around to see her.
