If you do some googling there is already a recap up of episode two up pretty much that goes through it scene by scene. But tbh as it’s only a few hours away I don’t think it’s worth spoiling yourself haha

I don't find anything... post a link under a spoiler tag

Vadic is great because she's not the typical grumpy villian, but laughs and giggles and is delightful to watch so far.

Shaw still just doesn't care. Not his problem, no jurisdiction, their own fault, Titan is an exploratory vessel, needs of the 500 compared to just a few... but then he does listen to her simple, blunt, obvious point. Great writing again!

The Nemesis reference was maybe too similar, but I didn't care. :D

The way they approach the big mystery is great. I was not on board with the rumors, but how they slowly and amusingly go there is nice. That scene with Riker :D

So the Ferengi has been redesigned from its Disco appearance and now has ridges in part of his ears. Maybe he's 1/4 Vorta? :D It's also the first indication of facial hair, or hair of any kind, on a Ferengi. And 31 as suggested by LDS is widely known again now.

The best part certainly is that powerful scene when Beverly and Picard see each other for the first time in 20 years, great face acting without words, and then Picard yelling that line across the bridge into Shaw's face, and his reaction to it, it's just amazing to watch. And we all guessed who would show up at the end, right? :D

Story summary (written 2 weeks ago):

Vadic introduces herself and says she wants Jack. Transport inhibitors prevent her from beaming him away, and they try to escape with the shuttle, but Vadic destroys it before they can get there. Vastly outgunned, they send a distress call to the Titan which should still be in range. Seven argues with the captain who doesn't care. It's outside Federation space, no jurisdiction, their own fault, Titan is an exploratory vessel, he'd rather let 2 people die than risk his crew of 500. Seven says he can either be the hero who saved heroes, or the one responsible for their deaths, his call. That works, and the Titan saves them. Tactical analysis, very similar to the scene in Nemesis, lists all the weapons the Shrike has. Vadic gives them an hour IIRC to surrender Jack.

It turns out Jack is wanted for several crimes and has used many other names before, and is sent to the brig. Picard visits him there and asks who his father is. Jack says he never had one. Riker also mentioned that Jack seems familiar, wink wink, and it's implied that he is Picard's son. Picard avoids the topic, funny scene when Riker tries to find out if it's possible and Picard tries to avoid admitting it. The Captain decides to surrender Jack, who is a criminal anyway, and protocol demands that the safety of the ship is more important than anything else when outside Fed space.

Raffi tries to find out more and needs to contact a (slightly redesigned) Ferengi who seems to know more about the attack on the building. Her apparent ex-husband, dad of their son from S1, can contact him, but forces her to decide between reaching out to their son or that Ferengi. He refuses to do both. Raffi struggles and the guy is outraged that she doesn't choose the son. She meets with the Ferengi, who tells her to take the eye spray drug from the trailers which apparently works like a truth serum, but Raffi stays strong. The Ferengi realizes that she must have had previous drug experience and can resist its effects. It turns out he knows she works for SF and suggests she's SI or Section 31. His guards attack her.

With Titan about to leave and the bridge crew not liking the captain's attitude - Geordi's daughter in particular is torn between loyalty to her dad's friends and following orders - Picard tries again to convince the Captain to help them and save Jack. Riker goes to sickbay to wake Beverly and bring her to the bridge, weak and still recovering. Powerful scene when Beverly and Picard see each other for the first time in 20 years, great face acting without words. When the Captain asks why this guy is so important that Titan should fight a much stronger ship, Picard says: Because he is my son! The Captain gives in - Titan attacks, then flees and hides in the nebula, while Vadic gleefully laughs and chuckles and giggles. Meanwhile, Raffi is about to be killed when a mysterious figure shows up and fights the guards, finally beheading the last one, and tells Raffi he told her to stop pursuing this. So this is the one who sent the texts, her 'handler'! Who could it be...? It turns out to be Worf!

Vadic is going to be an interesting character.
I don’t think her motivations are revenge like we all thought initially. At least not against the old Enterprise crew. But given her knowledge of Shaw’s psych profile she’s well connected with Starfleet info. So somehow Starfleet will probably end up being the baddies.

Shaw came across a lot better here. His character development gave him a lot more depth than just a foil for our heroes

I was going to give this episode a 9, but then the revelation happened and it lowered the score to an 8.

I enjoyed it more than last week, but now that the "Premiere Event" episodes have past, I still think it was overhyped. However, I enjoyed the ship to ship stuff between the Titan and the Shrike, and I actually like the look of the new Farengi in Picard (Before that becomes like a 10 page conversation in this thread while I'm sleeping ;)). I also loved seeing Worf again, even though it was ever brief. However, making Crusher be Picard's Son is something I hoped wouldn't happen and it did. This series has now fallen into the long lost son troupe many other shows fall into. Let's see what they do with it, but I did kinda roll my eyes at the end.

They hit hard on the Star Trek 5 soundtrack this week. Are they basically going to feature scores from the various movies this season. Also, I hate that they put the credits at the end and we don't have the Picard theme this season at the beginning. The fact that we didn't get anything new for episode 2 kinda bugged me.

I'm frustrated by how they wrote Picard and Shaw. Shaw is clearly written to be wrong, building on his mostly paper thin characterization from last week, but Picard shouting "it's the wrong thing to do!" at him without actually having some kind of answer or plan doesn't really help matters.

But because the show is called Picard, you know that he's right even though he (and Riker) do nothing to make a compelling argument... and I'm sure they're going to write in some fan service escape that gets them out of what would otherwise be considered a reckless choice.

I'm also not really sure what to make of the fact that everyone basically predicted the two big "surprises" either. I guess it's like, what else can you do at this point if you're bringing back Worf and you have a character who is Crusher's son?

Other tidbits which were more amusing than anything else... everyone suddenly remembers that Picard is a robot (which I think was forgotten in S2) and Section 31 is actually so bad at their jobs that this super secret organization is basically the first guess anyone has when they see a sneaky human lurking around.

I'm glad it's not just on my end that the blacks are crushed and the colors way over saturated. I know some people have complained about the lack of color, but it honestly looked better last week.

I gained more respect for Shaw in this episode. He values the lives of his crew, and to do this for an old admiral is a pretty high risk. I agree with you that because this is Picard, Picard must be right, but if I was captain and these two old guys came on and short of took my command, I would be pissed too.

It's interesting that the complement of the Titan-A is only 500. Show us that the Neo-Constitution really is slightly bigger than the size of a 23rd century constitution class ship.

Seriously WTF Is up with the over saturated color in this episode. You can watch just the opening Star Trek bit from this week and last and see a massive difference. I found it exceedingly distracting through the whole episode. Enough so that I couldn't focus on the story.

It made the episode utter crap to watch as a visual presentation. In 60 plus years its easily the worst visual presentation Trek has ever released.
