Well, Picard did have a model of the NX refit in one of last seasons flashbacks, so it has been established as a canonical design. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

I love the NX Refit. Would be great if they showed a placard, like the ones from Starfleet Academy in season 2, that explains NX-01 underwent the refit near the start of the Romulan War.

Don't think they can do that because in the final episode of ST: ENT, I believe it's called "Valentines to the fans", which supposedly takes place after the War, the ship is still the same. I guess if they were to push the start of the War to after the birth of the federation then they could get away with it.

That’s funny, I don’t recall them ever referring to “Terra Prime” like that…

Well, we don't actually see the outside of the ship at any point in TATV, since it's a holodeck simulation. The closing shot with the flyby could take place at any time (and IIRC, the nebula the ship was flying around was reused from an earlier episode).

The mere fact that TATV is a holodeck simulation means that anything in it can be ignored without violating canon. It's a ready-made excuse. Just say the program was inaccurate.

If the NX-01 shows up as a museum ship she will probably be in its original configuration as that is what most fans would know her as, and in-universe that is how she looked when she launched. Surely Starfleet has the resources to restore her.

This happens in our universe (restored to original apperance) often enough.

I have a lot of trouble imagining Alex Kurtzman using a version of the NX-01 that looks completely different from the ship from the actual show, on the basis of a conjectural alternate design that only a small percentage of fans were ever aware of.

It could be worse. IDW could hire an artist named Joe West. :guffaw:

Looks like another piece of the DS9 Novelverse-continuity just went kablooey today with this latest episode, and the circumstances behind Ro Laren's re-entry into Starfleet...

This version of her never knew the touch of Quark...

Not necessarily. She could’ve been assigned to DS9 at some point. Or anywhere with a Quark’s franchise where the owner might drop in.

Yeah, we only know the broadest outlines of Ro's life between 2370 and 2401. That's over 30 years we don't know much about. For all we know, Starfleet Intelligence could have stationed her DS9 in the immediate aftermath of the Dominion War. Hell -- for all we know, this new canonical Ro could have been married to Quark!

Ro's only a Commander, not a Captain and likely never commanded DS9.

If nothing else, we at least know that her and Picard never saw each other between her joining the Maquis and this episode. Which got me wondering, how many different versions of their reunion have we gotten now? I know of at least 3, with the TNG Dominion War duology, Avatar, and now this.

I'm just wondering how Ro's nasal ridges faded to almost nothing over the years.

Same way that Worf’s changed over the course of TNG.
