DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

That actually looked more interesting than I was expecting it to. Barry's suit looks so much better in this than that mess he was saddled with in JL.

I wonder if Affleck and Keaton's Batmen will meet.

I also wonder if Gunn & Safran are moving forward with a Supergirl movie in their semi-reboot because they were impressed with Sasha Calle's performance in this. I guess we'll find out in a few months.

A really good trailer.

Still hate Ezra Miller as Flash, Grant Gustin would have been awesome ( even if his show turned to shit several seasons ago) but it did what it needed to do - get me excited. Supergirl, Keaton's Batman on top of Affleck's Batman ( and i love Affleck's Batman, sue me) and whatever they are keeping a secret for the movie.

Since this will be the transition movie into the DCU i am very curious how they will do it story wise, might even go the movies after the initial craze is over.

I’m pretty sure Supergirl has also been recast for that movie

Not yet, she hasn't:
“We’re figuring it all out. We don’t know yet,” Gunn and Safran said of Calle potentially staying in the Supergirl role. “We’re pretty far away from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”

Things I liked: Kara, Zod's return, Keaton's Batman, Affleck, and the idea of seeing other worlds/realities is always an interesting idea to me.

But boy am I tired of the "Barry breaks the universe to save his mom, will he let her die to put it back together?" story. I wish Johns had never included that in Barry's return in the first place (although of course I also wish he'd let Barry stay dead), and after having the animated Flashpoint and so much of the CW series focus on that, it almost feels like nobody knows what else to do with the Flash anymore. And Miller just doesn't have the fun charisma as Gustin.

Still, the trailer did its job; I'm very interested and kinda looking forward to it.

I generally don't watch previews of movies I want to see, because I like to go in knowing as little as possible. But I watched this preview, because I didn't care about the movie - and, hot damn, now I kinda care. Previews can be deceiving, but that looks far more intriguing than I was expecting. Given how much the TV show has run the concept of one Barry facing his own faults into the ground (and below the ground, and below that, and below tha...), making the movie a buddy-picture with two Barrys is an inspired move.

So, after seeing the spot aswell....

I have an intens dislike for Miller and what they have done lately. I do not think their showing of regret is genuine.
But I loved their version of The Flash, and I loved The Snydercut and Snyderverse. Seeing Keaton again as Batman gave me so much more chills than I thought it would, and this is the first time in a while I have been really excited about a superhero movie.

Also..... Affleck is back. I knew, but I love it.

As someone who quit on the Flash show after it's first season a long time ago, I haven't nearly had my fill of Barry breaking the universe to save Mommy. So I'm amped for this.

Such a shame Ezra is such a toxic POS. I very much like their Flash.

Unfortunately, I found myself viewing the trailer for "The Flash", which my sister found more thrilling than the "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" trailer. All I remember is that Michael Keaton looked as if he could barely move in the Bat suit. Perhaps he'll move a lot better in other scenes. Whatever.

Looking at the story aspects of this (and Keaton and Calle) I can get where the hype is coming from. But...

Miller's acting in this trailer is absolutely god awful. And they're playing multiple main characters in this movie.

Even setting aside all their other issues, it's hard to imagine this movie actually being fun except for maybe the scenes that Miller isn't in.

I liked his JL suit better. It had a nice homemade quality to it, and it looked credibly like it was designed to protect someone moving at high speed. And this one interacts with Miller's head shape and jawline in a way that looks very strange from certain angles, like the preview screencap in the YouTube video for the full trailer.

"HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT NAME?"
"Dude, I'm you."

Yeah. As someone who lost my mother when I was a child, I hate the idea of a story where the ending is "I see now that I have to let my mother be killed after all," as if that's somehow a heroic choice. And just in general, I've come to feel distaste for the time-travel trope of the heroes deciding they must allow a horrible tragedy/evil to happen in the past for the sake of the greater good. It's basically an argument from privilege: "Those other people's suffering and death was necessary because it let us come out ahead." It's the people who benefit from the status quo saying that preserving the status quo outweighs seeking justice and saving lives.

Michael Keaton being virtually immobile in the Batsuit is completely, 100 percent authentic to the original movies. He could never move worth a damn in that thing, which is one of the key reasons I've always disliked that costume.

So is he Flash and Reverse Flash?

(Look at the yellow that "other" flash is wearing where they first meet - I doubt that is by accident. Or are there three of them? )

Oh, that's a good catch. Superhero stories love their color-coded civilian costuming.

Incidentally, the Flash costume ring is really cool.

I could see something like a swerve with them saying that Zod is the villain and have Eobard kill him and take over.

“I’m sorry Zod, but in my time, you’ve been dead for centuries.”

I think it would be cool to give Lois Lane a solo movie that's simply about her being a kickass reporter uncovering some huge story, like maybe exposing Luthor as a criminal. Then in the sequel, this new mystery hero Superman shows up to save her from Luthor's revenge or whatever, and she investigates him and gets suspicious about her new coworker Clark...
For years, I've wished for a State of Play-esque Lois Lane movie starring Amy Adams. (Ex., here.) Few, if any capes. Lots of Pultizer Prize Award-winning journalist taking down corrupt politicians and destroying global multinationals. I don't know who the next Lois Lane will be, but I'd still love it, whoever she is.

Is Eobard even in this? From a movie script point of view it makes more sense it's just other Barry than introduce another character.

Maybe he has to kill our Barry's mother otherwise Barry does not travel in time to create the timeline he exists in.

What might work though is a limited series released a few months prior to the Superman film. It would serve a similar role to the MCU series do for the movies.

Perhaps. If its a six-episode HBO-Max origin story, but it would still need a heaping helping of costumed characters (read: audience magnet) who were active before Superman made his public debut.

I'm not a huge fan of bringing in so much DCEU stuff

Its the same universe / series, so logically, there should be as much DCEU material as needed.

Indeed.

Looks pretty cool. Looking forward to it. :techman:

I am curious about certain sub-plots in the film, but there's a bittersweet edge to it, knowing this film universe is ending.

That's the way he was in his movies--he could hardly move.
