Spoilers The Senate Pods

Unimatrix Q

Commodore
Commodore
When and how did the design of the senate pods change during the Imperial Era? Considering that they still looked differently in the latest Bad Batch episodes than in Andor.

I'm really wondering about when and how these changes happened, how long it took and how they were justified.

Justified under "I'm Palpatine and I'll reform whatever I want" rule.

Yep, in the end that would have been most likely the reason. But how would he have rationalized and justified it?

And why so late and not directly when the senate reopened after the duel between himself and Yoda?

In the latest Bad Batch episode, there were still the old pods. Wonder why the change hadn't already happened at that point.
Because changes take time and money. Palaptine is focused on security first, then symbolic changes. That's why we just now are getting stormtroopers and the TK troopers and such. He can't snap his fingers and have new pods brought in. One, that would strain credulity, and two bring attention to the fact that he had these pods saved up because...

The trivia gallery for the episode says this

I'd have to rewatch any of the Clone Wars episodes with the senate chamber to see if there's any notable differences.

Lets not forget that they literally just had to do a refurb once already after Yoda and Sidious trashed the joint. It'd be weird to immediately turn around and redecorate again. 13 years is plenty of time for the pods to all get replaced again.

Maybe they replaced the old ones to help the Empire spy on the Senators. So you don't have the rebellious talk like during the Clone Wars.

Another reason why i'm surprised that the change hadn't already happened, when the senate reopened.

Plus, from Sheev's point of view, the change could have been used as a symbol to the public that the days of the corrupt republic are finally over ;)

How quickly do you think he can do this?

One assumes that there's a warehouse somewhere that's just full of spare senate pods, so in case of breakdowns and routine maintenance they can just repopulate any missing units. With that in mind, I doubt it would take the repair droids more than a day or two to get everything back as if that fight didn't even happen.
