Well, I think that what is expected to be an epic musical score for season 3 means that the soundtrack is going to deserve it’s own thread. I think that Mr Matalas wants the soundtrack for season 3 to be a bit more traditional and familiar, yet hopefully still equally groundbreaking and freshly original in places.

Terry has just released a snippet of the USS Titan hero ship theme:

It is very James Horner inspired, don’t you think?

If anybody else has any more musical spoilers, please post away, even if it is old news now. :)

Lots of Horner influence in there.

OMG I love it! I got chills watching that. It sounds like a theme from a lost James Horner score to one of the other Star Trek movies. Can't wait to see the episode and if this snippet of music is any indication, I'll be getting this soundtrack when it releases!

Matalas has spoken about trying to get the soundtrack released before the season starts. I’m in two minds, on one hand I’m keen to hear the OST based on the snippets we’ve seen, but I think I’d rather hear it as part of the show first.

I for one would prefer hearing the soundtrack before seeing the series. I think that this would enhance the watching experience if we had already become emotionally invested in the musical score, it would also cushion the impact of a potentially badly written season 3 if we can focus on the familiar music rather than the story. If the score is released before the show then it is up to each individual fan if they want to listen to it or not. However, there could be *major* spoilers in the track list… :D

Saying this, they can’t even release the SNW soundtrack many months *after* season one, so an early Picard season 3 album release would be a pleasant surprise.

Hopefully the PIC season 3 soundtrack *will* be released early so we can analyze it and guess what may be coming up in the season. Picard season 2 soundtrack was released a few episodes before the finale, but if they manage to get it out even earlier this time then *fantastic*!

matalas previously teased a lot of goldsmith influences in the score too, hope stephen barton is able to balance his own style with horner's, goldsmith's, and not forget that jeff russo wrote a beautiful, memorable main theme for the series. but that might be a lot to ask for...

Well, some people I’ve been chatting to on Twitter have seen the first three episodes and said that the music stands out. This guy had high praise:

I hope that they release the album sooner rather than later. I’m *still* waiting for Strange New World’s soundtrack though.

The implication from tweets a while back was that the S1/S2 theme was getting binned altogether.

that's a shame, i haven't been a fan of most of russo's actual underscore for any of the shows but the main title for picard is one of my favorite star trek themes.

i will be curious to hear if barton resurrects goldsmiths "a busy man" theme which became so heavily tied to the TNG movies (despite being written for the final frontier).

I kinda welcome that, tbh. For me, I've been thoroughly unimpressed by Jeff Russo's Trek work thus far, especially his main themes that all end with a quote from Alexander Courage's TOS fanfare.

The music is awesome, with some great references to certain prior things..There's a definite specific feel to it. And that's all that can be said yet..

The new theme is the supposed to be "Rise of the Titan"... you can hear a short bit of it at the end of the last three trailers when STAR TREK PICARD appears on the screen. Most of the actual credits (guest stars etc) are supposed to be at the end of each episode (if you've seen the Amazon Prime seasons of The Expanse you'll get a visual of what I mean). And apparently the end credits preview the next episode, which Robert Meyer Burnett found to be sometimes too spoiler-y. So if that worries you, skip the end credits.
