Hello! I'm not sure if there's been avatar contests in here before, but I think that the TOS forum certainly deserves one; there's plenty of creative minds here (as evidenced by the caption contests and suck threads). To get things started, I'm going to use the format from the Voyager avatar contest ('cause I run that one and I know the rules forwards and backwards). Here's hoping there's enough interest to make this a tradition!
If you're familiar with the Voyager or DS9 contests, then feel free to skip to the dashed line.
There's three avatar categories:
Episode - Rather self-explanatory; an avatar based on the episode of the week.
Theme - An avatar from anything in TOS or TAS depicting the theme of the week. The theme is generally chosen by the previous week's theme winner.
Random Theme - An avatar from anything - TOS or otherwise - depicting the random theme of the week. This is also chosen by the previous week's random theme winner.
Entries will be no larger than 140x140px and/or 70kb. You also don't have to wear the avatar or anything silly like that (especially since there's three categories)
Entries will be accepted for five days. I'll put up the voting thread then. You'll be able to vote for one avatar in each category (or more, if we have enough entries). You'll also be able to vote for yourself once (honor system).
And if you don't like any or all of these rules, then please post about it! I dunno about other contests, but the Voyager avatar contest was formed through trial and error.

I like the idea and I will certainly enter some avatars. To be honest, I once thought about starting a TOS avatar contest myself, but wasn't sure if there'd be enough interest. I also thought that it might have been tried before. Anyway, I have to make some avatars now ...
