Yeah...this sounds like pure fan wish fulfillment. Buyout from what? Disney already owns LFL which means that Disney can fire her if they deem it necessary. From what I understand they are waiting for the Indiana Jones movie to come out before she steps down in some kind of buyout. She has already signed a severance deal. I means their has been speculation before but this time it feels more legit and less fan wish fulfillment.
It absolutely is scorched earth. It's wish fulfillment pure and simple. Abrams did this and still got torn to shreds by Trek fans so it's not a good model to follow.I don't really see it as them going scorched earth. They got the Mandalorian and the Ahsoka series around that are or will likely be popular. Plus the beauty of a multi-universe which is in essence what they would be creating is the ability to eat your ice cream and have it to. The Sequels can still exist and not exist at the same time. Abrams was very smart to do this with Trek because people would have been outraged if the Prime Universe was implied to simply been erased from all existence.
Again, if the PT didn't get wiped out the odds of this are infinitesimal in comparison.
So, again, pure fan speculation. She does seem to be someone Feige is grooming to replace him when he is ready to move on from the MCU. I think it's been said also Feige, as much as he likes the comics, is a bigger Star Wars fan so would likely jump at the chance to run Star Wars.
