Spoilers Andor season one

Am I the only one who doesn't think Fiona Shaw is actually dead and that this is some plan to lure the Empire into a trap?

One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is Lt. Blevin. I think he could be a surprise unknown element in the finale who shows up just to fuck with Dedra at an opportune moment.

He could be the Benny Blanco of the show, a minor villain we thought we were finished with who shows up in the final moments to deliver a brutal blow.

Note Partagaz's ominous warning for Dedra to "watch her back." Which she isn't really doing.

Each series has it's ups and downs. They are too different for me to go in to Andor and say, "perfection'.

SW for Disney+ is getting more varied and now actually outpacing the MCU shows in overall quality.

Also Andor has amazing set design that I want to see in future Bond movies:

I agree but that doesn't make one greater or lesser than the other. I enjoy Book of Boba Fett too but its style is completely different to that of Andor. Or, to look at the MCU, Daredevil is a completely different animal than She-Hulk. But, the two work side by side, rather than in competition.

And that's my preference. Not more of the same and the constant effort at oneupsmanship that happens so much.

Mileage will vary.

Well there is the slower paced, but more realistic Andor. The space westerns and samurai-like shows: The Mandalorean, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka. We will have some sort of drama with The Acolyte. Likely a con artist/swashbuckler show with Lando. Not sure yet what will will get with Skeleton Crew and The Droids based show.

Than we have animation, and that could go anywhere.

Well that was interesting and not what I was expecting. That's always nice. I expected someone important to die. On both sides. I liked that Brasso got away. Mon Mothma setting up her husband like that was ruthless. Loved it. And totally did not expect the ending. That was a cool moment. I am not sure how I feel about Syril and Dedra. It's weird anyway. I laughed at Mosk sitting down drinking the flask at the end.

Great first season. Others have sort of mentioned it but I'll say it plain for anyone who didn't let the credits run to the end: go back and watch the credits all the way through. You learn what it was they were building in the prison.

I love that smile Luthen gives at the end. They should have cut to credits right there, except it's Andor's show so I get it.

I'll say it again . . . I like this show. But I believe it is one of the most overrated Star Wars productions I have ever come across, especially in regard to how so many regards it as one the "Holy Grails" of the franchise. I just don't think it is that good. All of the shows have their flaws - and that includes "Andor". I like it, but I found it refreshing to come across someone offering real criticism of the series on the Jedi Council forum.

I love that smile Luthen gives at the end. They should have cut to credits right there, except it's Andor's show so I get it.

It felt as if Tony Gilroy had occasionally forgot that . . . especially since he had incorporated so much of Mon Mothma's arc into the series.

While I'm a little bit disappointed they actually showed what those things they were building in prison are actually for . . . I can't deny it was cool to actually see it.

Very tense episode. Something this show has consistently done well is build tension and give a satisfying payoff.

I think what I appreciate most about this show is that it respects the viewer's intelligence. There's a lot of "showing" where lesser shows would be "telling". There's two prime examples of that in this episode as we the viewers aren't told explicitly what's going on with either Cassian or Mon's respective plans of action. It's left to us to infer from context.
It took me a whole to get there, but in the air speeder ride when I figured out that Mon was deliberately setting her husband up to potentially take the fall for her own criminal activities, I audibly exclaimed "oh shit!" That's ice cold, and I love it.
On Cassian's side of things, while it's obvious he plans to break Bix out, we're not told exactly *how*. It's left to us to piece together the clues; he had them start the procession early to panic the Imperials, draw them out of the hotel to making easier to slip inside, and planned for the ensuing riot to cover their escape.
I even like that the kid with the IED wasn't part of the plan, it's just a natural result of Imperial oppression, as per Nemik's manifesto.

Oh and the guy who kicked Bee over: he dies for that.

I thought the finale was really great. I was getting some "Gangs of New York' vibes from it. It also made me think of the mocked Pepsi commercial with one of the Jenner girls also. Would have destroyed the episode but it would also be funny if Andor rushed out their and offered a Pepsi to the Empire soldiers and then everyone had a party in the streets.
