Superman

I would question why is that character more powerful than Superman. And would not get a satisfactory answer.

He's basically an Imp. He's an extradimensional being from a "Higher Level" Dimension than ours who has immense power over beings in this Dimension and usually can only be defeated by rules he sets for himself. Usually by defeating him in games he wants to play or making him say his name backwards.

Imagine the "Q" equivalent for Superman. Some stories imply he's more powerful than Darkseid

He could annihilate Superman anytime he wants, but he enjoys anything amusing so he always just leaves when the challenge/game is won or Superman gets him to say his name backwards because he honors the limit he puts on himself

Oh, and Superman isn't "vulnerable" to magic like it's his Kryptonite. It's just that magical things bypass his capabilities the way they bypass everyone's capabilities due to the inherent nature of magic.

Exactly, Kryptonite is his Kryptonite.

And what is the nature of magic? See I appreciate these longer explanations, but it rarely explains the nature of magic.

"I ask you to kill Superman, and you're telling me you couldn't even do that one simple thing."

That's actually one of my favorite lines in the movie!

And only Robert Vaughn could have delivered it.

Ross Webster: the unsung villain of the Superman universe.

Superman III gets a lot of flak - much of it justified - but as far as I'm concerned, Vaughn makes the whole thing worthwhile.

Superman is vulnerable to magic.

<mind blown>

I like it. :techman: I know SM did "mind control" or whatever it is called, to make Lois forget who he was so he has some power there.

A story of a magician coming along using magic to best him, forcing him to grow that muscle even more feels ripe for the picking on the big screen, imo.

Has it ever been done in CB's? Does DC have a Dark Wizard powerful enough to take on SM?

ETA: Just an FYI, Guy has already responded below.

On Titans last night, they called it Magic Phobia.

Felix Faust is an old school JLA villain.

Not watching the new season of Titans yet.

Appears to be a bit of a Strange clone but backstories are varied enough. :bolian:

I missed that season of Constantine... and the DC A.U. Weakened and Bound forever by Hades, eh. Does that make a return in live action impossible?

If so, I wish I thought DC could pull that off on the big screen.

It could probably work if Marvel wasn't dominating everything right now. Perhaps waiting for them to rest the MCU would help. Did I really say that :guffaw:

Thanx for the catchup.

Mister Mxyzptlk's 5th dimensional Magic counts as regular magic, and torments Superman on almost a monthly schedule, and weirdly Johnny Thunderbolt's Thunderbolt is also from the 5th dimension, and the 2 Imps know each other from the old days.

How do you say thunderbolt backwards?

Tlob Rednuth?

I'm sorry, but Robert Vaughn, let alone Chris Reeve or Richard Pryor could save that movie for me.
