Spoilers Andor season one

Why on earth would you think the basics of their economy would be different from our own? You can't just print money in our world to solve your financial problems, why would the Empire be any different?

It's also possible (though never stated anywhere) that Imperial/republic credits could be made of a precious metal or other substance, thus making them inherently valuable regardless of the status of the government. (Perhaps this is why Imperial credits "still spend" after the fall of the Empire.)

They are never going to admit it, but we all know it's gold-pressed latinum. ;)

I’m six episodes in so far. I like it and it’s technically very well done. I just don’t find myself as emotionally invested in it.

Not sure what it is. I don’t think it’s boring. Just none of the characters made me care about them all that much. All the resistance members are fighting for the “Understandably but annoyingly hostile to the protagonist” niche. There’s no real comic relief. Lucas wasn’t wrong to think Star Wars benefits from silly characters to lighten the tone, he was just wrong what silly characters are funny.

Luthen is actually my favorite character here, mostly because Stellan Skarsgard just rocks it. Kleya is an interesting character as well. Given the actress's resemblance to a young Carrie Fisher, her name caught me out a couple times, and had me counting years as well as what we know from canon. They aren't one in the same, but it raised my eyebrows. Kleya is pretty hard- more so than Leia, in terms of ruthlessness. Leia was plenty tough, as we all know.

I like that they are sticking to character with Saw Guerrera. Again, Forest Whitaker just hits it out. of. the. park. He's a crazy lone wolf, and he remains a crazy lone wolf. At one point, the look in his eye made me wonder if he was going to order his people to grab Luthen and hook him up to that mind-reading octopus thing of his.

I am interested to see how Andor gets out of the pickle he is currently in- Damn! He's in a tight spot!

I'm okay with a slow burn as long as there is a payoff in the end. Eight episodes in, the burn has become so slow that the payoff needs to be something spectacular.

It better be more than a prison break though. A few episodes with him just being in prison would be boring. Cassian isn't a member of the rebellion yet. he just helped with a job, so maybe he becomes more involved, maybe he meets some rebellion members while incarcerated. That would be cool at least.

This episode was filmed before a live studio audience . . . within an amazon redemption centre on THX-1138 cosplay theme day, with Encom's Master Control Program as the guest supervisor!

I dearly hope that it's never explained exactly what it is that they're assembling over and over again. There's something horrifically poetic about the little cogs being so pre-occupied with being cogs that they never stop to wonder what the big machine is even for. But if they absolutely MUST explain it, it needs to be something really inane and borderline worthless.

They are building parts for the Death Star.

Andor is going to be taken to the skeletal infrastructure that will one day become the Death Star to deliver/install these brackets that he built.

The implication I got is that he's going to learn the in-house Sign Language and they're going to do some attack of opportunity. Security is light. They only need something to handle the floor, they can overwhelm the guards and get on a transport....

I also thought for a second, after Saw asked him if all the goods were there on the Fondor, that Saw would threaten or was at least heavily thinking of attacking him for it. But Luthen 'passed' Saw's test, at least in a barely way, by admitting he was a Coward, his fears (justified) of a Empire too strong to assail and wanting just to unite everyone together. But Saw doesn't think he can ever unite with the myriad of factions, and that they can't unite, either. Rebels was wayyy too easy about how that went down, too. One separatist 'cell' in Rebels basically screwed off after analyzing their chances and then Mon Mothma had a speech...too easy.

Yeah, I was going to post more or less the same thing. Naming a character Kleya feels like a questionable choice in this show especially when Skarsgard made it sound like... another name. And I'm sitting there like, they can't really be going there, can they? But then I checked the credits.

THX-1138 cosplay theme day

True, it felt like THX. Which I liked because I like THX.

Speaking of which, one of the troopers in this episode their serial number is a reference to another character from that story.
I thought that was the last episode.

I don't mind that the story for "ANDOR" isn't moving fast. But I do mind that the story is moving too slow. And I believe this is due to the narrative being told through loose writing. The writing is NOT TIGHT ENOUGH. Thirteen episodes is proving too much for this story. I could have combined Episodes 1 and 2, Episodes 4 and 5, and Episodes 7 and 8. I could have trimmed at least 3 episodes from this season by now. And why this heavy focus on Mon Mothma? The name of the series is "ANDOR". We're halfway into the series and she still doesn't have a heavy impact on Cassian's character arc. Not yet. Do we really have to wait until the end of the season? Or the series? Will the rest of the series focus mainly on Cassian and Mothma? If that's the case, why bother naming this series "ANDOR"?

Melshi from Rogue One is also in the prison with Cassian. Looks like there's a chance they'll escape together and they have a bit of a backstory that lasts about five years.

It's a different Melshi. It's just a common name in the SW universe (and a common face.)

Totally agree. A show called "Andor" should just be a show about one guy named Andor in a room by himself for 10 episodes. Not talking or interacting with anyone. You wouldn't want any other characters in there at all if the show's called "Andor", after all. What would be the point of that? 100% Andor, all the time!

Maybe, but I hope not. Better to not know.

Better still if they don't even do *anything* and the job of the next floor up is to dismantle these things with the same degree of speed and efficiency. So they're just recycling the same useless objects over and over again to keep the prisoners busy.
