NYCC Season 3 Trailer

Can we all just wish for the Enterprise-E to retire and have the name transferred to the Enterprise-F peacefully, w/o destruction or damage to the Enterprise-E?

We don't need a tragedy or crazy incident to retire each iteration of the USS Enteprise.
It would be a bit early for the E to retire. They are supposed to have 50 year lifespans

Heh, Terry said in September that 'Ship in a Bottle' was one of his favourite episodes.

When they showed Lore's body parts at the Daystrom Institute in season 1 I kept asking myself just WHY the hell they would keep his body parts. As long as his body parts existed there would always be a danger that he could come back one day.

Why the fuck didn't Starfleet have Lore's parts disintegrated when they first had the chance? No good could have ever come from keeping him and his body parts around.

OK I get that Starfleet and the Federation doesn't believe in the death penalty. That's fine. But for God's sake, to keep Lore's parts in some easily accessible drawer at the Daystrom Institute was just idiotic. I wonder why they didn't keep his parts in a place that was hard to get to and was kept super secret.

The new villain's blatant Khan-ness seems disappointingly uninspired.
They were not joking about a Khan style villain.
Looks like a Nemesis rehash. Again with someone needing vengeance. Hasn't the franchise played that card enough by now?
Nope. Not as long as it makes money.

Heh, now make that two TNG villains I didn't expect to return any time soon. To be fair, I discounted the possibility of Lore specifically because I thought it would be too obvious.. well, at least it's not yet another Soong we've never heard of before. This looks like the fanwank to end all fanwanks, so it'll either be a monumental grand finale or an absolute dumpster fire. Either way, it will be glorious, I can't wait.

Worf, even with his newfound pacifism, seems and sounds like good-ol' Comically Serious Comic Relief Worf again, yaaay.

Was pretty surprised to see Moriarity. That was very unexpected and welcome. Wasn't expecting Lore, but not really that surprised. I've been wondering what happened to him and felt that needed to be explained. Bringing Lore back is a good way to include Brent Spiner in the final season.

I thought the trailer wasn't bad, it served as a good tease. Not sold on the sliver we've got of the new big bad. It's cool that she's Christopher Plummer's daughter. General Chang was one of the great Trek villains.

Liked the inclusion of the Enterprise-F. There's a lot of Star Trek Online designs, especially for species like the Tzenkethi that I would like to see made canon in live action.

Honestly, there wasn't much here that really excited me, other than seeing Michael Dorn as Worf again. I mean, I'm still enthused to see it, it just didn't add that much additional enthusiasm, if you know what I mean.

Vadic so far just seems like a hybrid of the "greatest hits" of Trek villany. A little bit of Khan, a little bit of Chang, and the ship of Nero. I'll have to understand her motivation more to be drawn into this.

Here's one of the best views of the Enterprise-F.

I am massively, massively let down by the reveal that the Enterprise-F is that Odyssey class. And the fact that they revealed it now rather than keep it a secret sucks too (although it would have sucked even worse if they DID keep it a secret just to find out the bad news later.) It also looks far too ‘video-gamey’ to me. It’s like one of those STO ships that were meant to be seen in the far background rather than up close.

Oh, and I thought new ships were supposed to have round saucers now, per Terry Matalas. So what happened with the F?

It's only been thirty years since the Enterprise E was launched. If there's already an Enterprise F it's because the E was either destroyed or damaged so severely it was considered more practical to decommission it rather than repair, as it apparently the case regarding the Titan and why there's a Titan A this season.
