The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

I got some sad news today. A little while ago, my mom saw on a local news site that a donkey was hit by a motorcyle and killed on the road near the park where we go to visit them, and where I took all the pictures and videos of them I've posted in the thread. We don't know for a fact it was one of the ones we've see, but there's a very good chance it was.

That is very sad news. I’m so sorry, JD. I know how much of an animal lover you are. That had to be very hard to hear. :(

Thanks. There's one in particular I've gotten kind of attached to and I'm really hoping it's not him. He's a younger looking reddish one, and he tends to be one of the ones who comes the closest to us. There were a couple times I thought he was going walk right up to us. I was looking through the pictures and videos, but I couldn't tell for sure which one was him.

The horses I say hi to at the stables have developed a mildly annoying habit the last few times I've seen them. They'll come to the fence when they see me, but then ignore me and eat the bushes and nose around in the dirt. When I give up after a few minutes of trying to get their attention and start to get on my bike, they'll stick their heads over the fence and stare at me, looking like they want attention.

Ah, the little-known horse cats.

This is not OK, and more needs to be done to put a stop to it. These horses go through so much, and the only thanks they get is the be dumped in an auction to probably end up being slaughtered the moment they are useful anymore. These are loving, emotional, intelligent beings, and they just thrown away like they are nothing. It's sad how many of the horses that Thalia finds in the kill pens (that's where they put the horses that have been sold to be shipped to Mexico to be slaughtered), come up to her, desperate for some love and attention.
Thalia Fishcer is doing her monthly visit to the Bowie Texas livestock auction, and there was a trailer that came into the auction earlier today, where a whole bunch of donkeys had collapsed, and were literally stacked three high on top of each other.
