I have long thought TMP was a roller coaster ride compared to 2001.

I have also been unable to catch the new DE at a theatre near me (there wasn’t one). And, of course, I refuse to pay for Paramount+ just to see one movie.

I don't understand this. You'd pay to see one movie in a theater but not to see that same movie on Paramount+? I also don't know what the offers are like in Canada, but in the States Paramount+ has a free week so you can try out the service and see the movie and not pay anything.

I can be contradictory. I don’t want to sign up for something just to quickly cancel it soon after. Seeing it on a big screen could have been a treat.

As is I’ll watch it on my 58in. Samsung when I get the disk. And owning the disk I can watch it whenever I want.

Any cinema the world over (with the set-up to screen 4K) is now permitted to hire the DE (as a digital file called a "Digital Cinema Package" or DCP) and screen it. Talk to your local boutique cinema.

I saw it IMAX about forty years ago at Ontario Place. The Enterprise on an IMAX screen is thunderous.

I did manage to watch an anniversary screening of 2001. I found it to be spectacular but just a bit too sterile for me. I prefer more character interaction.

Alien was definitely worth it on the big screen though. You can feel the heartbeats.

I saw an original, rather faded Theatrical Cut in that London for the anniversary but I am expecting this version to blow me away.

There were screenings of a 70mm print, presumably that's what @Warped9 saw.

That's not IMAX. And it wasn't shot in 70 mm it was blown up to 70 mm. But the bigger the screen the better I agree

I saw it last night at the cinema. What am amazing experience. The movie is 2 years older than me, so to be honest, I’d never thought I’d ever see this movie in the cinema. Glorious. The opening 2 minutes of starfiekd and music just feels weird though. I think they fixed the arm band colours swapping over at the end between McCoy and Spock?

The model work just looks beautiful. The close up of the Klingon ships and Enterprise was great. Can’t wait to see TWOK in a fortnight (which I have seen on the big screen, where I’m hoping all the extended Peter scenes etc are included).

Sydney's IMAX theatre (currently being rebuilt) boasted the biggest IMAX screen in the world at the time, and played many non-IMAX movies on its IMAX screen, including the 2009 Kelvinverse movie.

But the bigger screen the better.
