Better Call Saul, the TV series

I do not see a happy ending anymore. Kim was heartbreaking in the whole episode, and I now think that she will end up in jail to help and ease her guilty conscience.

If Jimmy doesn't get caught, he'll end up alone somewhere.

It's all still very gripping and I can't wait for the finale.

Jesse! Again!

Well, the irony of it is that Jimmy's advice to Jeff, while self-serving, was spot on. No stolen property in the taxi no evidence of a crime. But Marion blowing the whistle on Saul establishes the connection that will put her own son in the crapper.

I see Jimmy going to jail, and on his first day, another inmate says, "So you used to be a lawyer, huh?" and the light goes on.

When I think about Kim going to prison or even simply standing trial and being found innocent I was thinking of her redemption being the one that Tobias Beecher almost had on "OZ." When he was let out of prison and decided to work with helping criminals. That was until he fucked it up but I don't think KIm would do that part.

I just hope somehow, Kim finds her way back to lawyering. After her confession that makes it a lot harder. But I think going full circle and have Kim making a living as a public defender exactly the way Jimmy was in S1E1 would be perfect.

I started rewatching Better Call Saul and am on episode 9 of season one. It's kinda heartbreaking watching the show knowing where everybody ends up :(

So there's a promo for the final episode. I couldn't hear what Jimmy/Saul/Gene was saying at first, but...
It looks like his plan is to go back to vacuum cleaner guy. Not sure about the likelihood of that working out for him, or how they'd work around the actor's death.

It's been 6 years. Said character might not still be alive.

Has anyone seen this of yet?

No. The face features are too similar. Even Mike looks young , and I didn't even recognize Howard....

You started early! I'm holding off until after the series finale.

But yeah, I fully expect lots of heartbreak. Likewise Breaking Bad when I finally do my first rewatch after this rewatch.

I'm going to do my Breaking Bad rewatch after my Better Call Saul rewatch :)

It's weird the second time. Like, I KNOW Howard is being a dick to Jimmy so Chuck doesn't look like the asshole, but I sort of hated/admired Howard at the same time and it made me hate Chuck even more

Jimmy/Saul/Gene probably still never knew his mother was actually asking for him instead of willing to talk with Chuck when Jimmy went out to get something to eat or drink just before dying.

Chuck wasn't a good guy either.

Damn. I had forgotten about that.

Yeah, Chuck was awful.

From Jimmy's perspective it's been a lot shorter than that, weeks. He talked to him the moment Jeffy made him.

I don't think Chuck is a narcissist. You can't blame his treatment of Jimmy on a medical issue. He decided very early in life that Jimmy was a bad person, then couldn't tolerate allowing him to be anything else.

This is a bittersweet day. I'm excited for tonight's finale, but I really am not ready for this great show to end.

You know, when I'd first heard of Breaking Bad several years back I knew how good it was meant to be. Had seen the memes, knew little except for surface details and that the guy from Malcolm in the Middle was in it. I had no idea what I was in for and teared through a binge watch (I think I'm up to 4 straight re-watches now).

When Better Call Saul was announced, I was intrigued, but very sceptical it could live up to it's phenomenal predecessor. I'd say it's more than earned it's place alongside, standing on it's own as an equal to BB rather than some light weight spin-off.

So yeah, definitely bittersweet. But I agree with Gilligan's sentiment - you can't keep betting on red 21. If there had been an idea that inspired them, sure. I struggle to think of anything that wouldn't be forced at this juncture; all the primary characters arcs from Breaking Bad have been resolved. Capturing lightning in a bottle twice is pretty damn impressive - better to call it a day while you're ahead.

Speaking of lightning in a bottle - Rhea Seehorn. What a bit of casting that was.
